Biography

The future politician was born in June 1964 on June 19 in the American city of New York. Boris is an American with Turkish-Circassian roots, his great-grandmother was a Circassian, and his great-grandfather Ali Kemal was a Turk who served for a long time as a journalist, then headed the Ministry of Internal Affairs under the government of Vizier Ahmed Okday.

Ali arrested one of the opposition leaders, Kemal Ataturk. After Kemal reached power, he in turn ordered the arrest of Ali, and later, on the orders of Nureddin Konyar, Johnson's great-grandfather was executed. These events caused Johnson's grandfather to emigrate to the United States.

Boris Johnson was not the first or the only child in the family; he has a sister, Rachel, as well as two brothers, Joe and Leo. Despite the clan's size, the Johnsons never experienced financial problems. There were also no problems with education. Johnson's father was a fairly respected person not only in the United States, but also in Europe. After his appointment as Commissioner for the Environment in Europe, the family moved to Brussels, where Boris went to school, after which, in the mid-80s, Johnson graduated from Oxford University.

After graduation, Boris took up journalism. He took his first steps in the publishing house of the famous British newspaper The Daily Telegraph. In the 90s he moved to Brussels, where he continued to write for a British newspaper. Johnson continued to produce press coverage until the 2000s.

In 2001, he decided to try himself in the political arena, and as a representative of the Conservative party, he announced his candidacy for the parliamentary elections. In 2005, he re-entered the parliament and was its member until 2008.

Upon expiration of his term in parliament, Johnson took part in the elections for mayor of London, also from the Conservative Party. In the first round of voting, he gained 43%, and in the second, 53% and won the elections. The main tasks as mayor, he defined the fight against traffic jams, the popularization of bicycle transport, as well as the fight against crime. In 2012, he was re-elected and stayed as mayor for another four years.

In 2016, he took over as foreign minister in the government of Theresa May, but voluntarily resigned two years later due to misunderstandings over the UK's exit from the European Union. In 2019, he was approved for the post of Prime Minister of the country.

Personal life

The famous British politician has been married twice. From two marriages, Johnson has four children, two daughters: Cassia and Lara and two sons: Theodore and Milo. He is always in good physical shape because he remains a passionate cyclist.
