In the early 2000s, Russians were struck by the news of the "Skopinsky maniac" Viktor Mokhov. For almost 5 years he committed horrible crimes, held in captivity and raped young girls. Despite the fact that he more than once fell into the field of view of the investigating authorities, he managed to avoid punishment and continue his actions. Why did this happen? How the "Skopinsky maniac" was caught and what punishment he incurred for his crimes.

Who is Viktor Mokhov

None of those people who were closely acquainted with Mokhov saw how he grew up, could not even think that he would become one of the most terrible Russian maniacs. An ordinary, unremarkable, rather quiet teenager, then a young man, a man, without any mental deviations and signs of aggression towards women. He graduated from school, then entered a technical school in his hometown of Skopino, Ryazan region, received a specialized education - he mastered the profession of a mining foreman. In order to work according to the mastered profile, Victor had to leave home, which he did not want to do. Mokhov got a job as a simple mechanic at a nearby plant, and worked there almost all his life.

No one ever noticed his evil inclinations. The work collective spoke well of him, the leadership more than once noted his labor successes and zeal with certificates of honor, he was honored to become a member of the CPSU. With the same zeal and zeal, as it turned out later, he prepared for the commission of his crimes. The bunker, which he built to keep his captives, was striking with its constructive thoughtfulness, was carefully camouflaged, the entrance to it was impossible to notice, even being two steps away.

Viktor Mokhov's personal life did not work out. He made an attempt to start a family, got married in the late 70s, but family happiness lasted only 3 months. Who was his wife, what was her name, why did she leave her husband so quickly - there are no answers to these questions even now. Perhaps the woman already then noticed that Victor had some kind of mental abnormalities on sexual grounds, and when these inclinations were revealed, she tried to erase all mentions of him from her life.

The crimes of Viktor Mokhov - "Skopinsky maniac"

It is not known when Viktor Mokhov started building the bunker. Nobody knew about what he was doing in his free time, what he was preparing for - neither his mother, with whom he lived, nor his colleagues. The future maniac had no close friends. Judging by how the basement behind his garage was disguised and equipped, Mokhov was preparing for the crimes and pondering them long before they were committed.

For the first time he made an attempt to get a captive back in 1999, when he invited a young couple to have a drink with him. His idea came true, but just two weeks later, the girl managed to escape from the bunker. The strange thing is that the victim did not go to the police. If she did this, the maniac would have been arrested at that moment, he would not have caused so much grief to other girls and their families.

After only six months, Mokhov managed to find a "like-minded person" who then helped him to commit crimes. She was a certain Elena Badukina, who outwardly looked very similar to a young man, and appeared to the victims as Mokhov's nephew Lesha. At the end of September 2000, the couple managed to lure two girls 14 and 17 years old into Victor's car. The girls, not suspecting that they had fallen into the hands of criminals, agreed to drink with new acquaintances, and woke up already in the bunker of the "Skopinsky maniac". There they spent 4 long years, one of them had two sons from a maniac, she lost her third child.

Three years later, thinking that the girls completely belonged to him, that their will was suppressed, Mokhov began to take them out for walks, which was his main mistake. When the maniac tried to get another captive, one of the girls managed to give her a note, which the failed victim passed on to the police. This is how one of the most notorious crimes of the 2000s was solved - the case of the "skopinky maniac".

Detention and arrest of Viktor Mokhov and his accomplice

According to one version, Mokhov was greeted by the police calmly, even with a smile, according to another - he tried to escape. One way or another, immediately after the arrest, he admitted his guilt, showed the entrance to the bunker, where the girls were kept for 43 months. There was no limit to the surprise of the authorities. The fact is that before their attention was already attracted by this man, but it was not possible to find evidence indicating his involvement in the disappearance of two girls. While inspecting the courtyard of his house, the policemen stood literally on the hatch, under which there was a bunker.

Not only Viktor Mokhov himself, but also his accomplice Elena Badukina was brought to responsibility for the capture and violence. Her guilt was not so terrible, and the woman received only 5, 5 years in prison. Mokhov was assigned to prison for 17 years.

In 2014, news appeared in the media that Mokhov was killed in places of detention, but it was not confirmed. The rumors were denied by the mother of the "Skopinsky maniac". According to her, she regularly receives letters from her son, once every two weeks he calls her on the phone, but where he is serving a sentence, the woman refused to say. There is no talk of release under the so-called parole either. It is not known whether Viktor Mokhov tried to be released ahead of schedule.
