"Umrah" is translated from Arabic as visit, trip, visit. She is a small pilgrimage to Mecca or, in other words, "small hajj". Performing Umrah is optional as performing the main Hajj. However, it is advisable to do it at least once in your life, if your financial situation and health allows.
This rite of worship consists of donning ihram, performing tawaf, running between the Safa and Marwa hills, and cutting hair. According to the Abu Hanifa madhhab, putting on ihram and performing tawaf is fard, and ritual running between Safa and Marwa and cutting hair is wajib.
After putting on ihram, the performer of umrah pronounces the intention: "O Allah, truly I want to commit die, make it easier and accept it from me." This is done in mikat, which is the border of the sacred land, where one cannot go without entering the state of ihram. Ihram is a special state of spiritual purity and the observance of special rules. Then, after reciting the talbiya, the pilgrims go to Mecca. There they make tawaf (ritual circumambulation around the Kaaba), run between the Safa and Marwa hills and cut their hair. After completing all these rituals, the umrah ends. During the performance of the umrah, the same actions are prohibited that are prohibited during the performance of the obligatory hajj.
There is no strictly defined time for this pilgrimage. Umrah is performed at any time of the year except for the five days of the month of Zul-Hijja, from the ninth to the end of the days of tashrik. Performing umrah at this time is makruh, but you can do it along with the Hajj.
