According to article 26 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, a person with a Russian passport has the right to independently determine his nationality. That is, according to the law, no one can interfere with you when you want to change your nationality.
Instructions
Step 1
Submit an application for amending the column "nationality" to the registry office (civil registry office) at your place of residence. The application can be written in any form to the name of the registry office. The application must consist of: petition for change of nationality, date of preparation, signature of the applicant. It is allowed to submit such applications not only at the place of residence, but also at the place of birth.
Step 2
Collect all necessary documents: birth certificate, marriage certificate (and, if available, divorce certificate). In the event that the change of nationality occurs on the basis of a different nationality of the father or mother, birth certificates of the father or mother are also required.
Step 3
Please be patient, as an application for a change of nationality can be considered within a month. For some reason, determined by the registry office, the terms of consideration can be extended, but in any case, the consideration cannot last longer than two months.
Step 4
Be prepared for the fact that, despite the article in the law on the right of self-determination in the issue of nationality, your application will not be accepted. The fact is that such a procedure is carried out extremely rarely, and the law is relatively new. And in reality, the registry office employees may refuse your request on the basis of the internal laws of the registry office. Step 5
In case of refusal, again with all the documents, apply to the district court of your city, and submit the case for consideration. The basis for the application is Article 26 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, according to which every citizen of the Russian Federation has the right to determine and indicate his nationality independently. According to this article, no one should be forced to determine their nationality. And, therefore, prevent the change of nationality.
