Correspondence is the most convenient way to communicate at a distance. And email services have made sending emails anywhere in the world a breeze. It remains only to learn the basic principles of writing letters in English - and you will be able to contact any foreigner.

Step 1
If you are writing a letter in English, start it with the standard address: Dear…! Such an appeal is appropriate not only in personal, but also in business correspondence. After the appeal, an introductory phrase is placed, then the body of the letter itself (that is, sentences that contain the main purpose of the message). Below is the final phrase (gratitude, hope for an early letter, and so on).
Step 2
The messages almost always end with one of the following phrases: Best wishes - Best wishes (informal style)
Best regards - Best Regards / Regards (more formal)
Sincerely yours - sincerely yours
Yours cordially - yours cordially (appropriate in a letter to family or friends)
Ever yours - always yours / yours (unofficial style)
Yours truly - Sincerely / Loyal to you (for business correspondence)
Respectfully yours - Respectfully yours (appropriate in a letter from subordinate to superiors)
Step 3
Use electronic text translators. If you need to contact a foreigner, but you do not know the languages, contact one of the online translation services. PROMT or Google translator is capable of interpreting whole phrases. However, in order to avoid incidents, it is better to load only simple sentences with an unambiguous meaning into them.
Step 4
Format envelopes correctly. Recently, electronic correspondence has almost completely replaced "paper" letters. Therefore, sending a regular mail envelope is sometimes difficult. First, the name and surname of the recipient (or the name of the organization) are written, then the address. In our country, a Western standard was introduced several years ago, but some continue to write the address in the old fashioned way, starting with the country and the city. It is correct to start the address with the street and house number (apartment, office, if required), then indicate the district and city, then the postal code, and then the name of the region and country.
