Biography

Konstantin Rasskazov was born in 1907 in the village of Semiley, which at that time was part of the Penza province. Now this is the territory of Mordovia. Konstantin's family belonged to the peasant environment. Stories early was left without a father - he died when the boy was seven years old. Therefore, Kostya started working on the railroad to help the family.

Konstantin graduated from the first four classes of school in his village. He received further education at the Poltava military-political school.

He took part in the process of dispossession - in 1929 he was authorized on this issue in the village of Starye Turdaki. Such work was difficult psychologically and morally, Rasskazov constantly faced threats. Because of this, he often did not come home to spend the night, so as not to endanger the family.

In the ranks of the Red Army, Konstantin Ivanovich was drafted in 1929, the place of call is the city of Kiev. Here he was offered to continue serving extra urgently. After a short discussion with his wife, he remained in the city to serve.

After studying the program of the military school in Poltava (in 1935), Rasskazov and his family moved to Odessa. In this city, he served as an officer until 1941.

With the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War, Constantine was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army by the Odessa City Military Committee and took part in hostilities from the first days.

Contribution to victory

Rasskazov took part in operations on the Southern, Stalingrad and Southwestern Fronts. For all the time he suffered two wounds.

Konstantin Ivanovich contributed to the defense of Stalingrad and Odessa. He headed a supply platoon for a rifle battalion (1116th rifle regiment). His subordinates in difficult combat conditions in December 1942 provided the advancing units with food near Stalingrad. In the rank of foreman for this work, he was awarded the medal "For Military Merit".

In 1943, Rasskazov was sent to refresher courses for officers. After their completion, Konstantin was entrusted with the command of a rifle company.

Rasskazov took part in the Offensive operation in the Kryvyi Rih direction. In the fall of 1943, fierce battles took place on the Dnieper. The German units retreated, but at a certain moment they fortified themselves in concrete shelters on the banks. In addition, fresh forces and new technology arrived. On one of the sectors of this front, Rasskazov fought with his company.

In the fall of 1943, the company of K. I. Rasskazov was able to cross the river, destroy two heavy machine guns. The soldiers went deep into the rear of the enemy for 4 kilometers, laying a lot of fascists. And, although it was not possible to develop a further attack, Rasskazov was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the first degree for this operation.

A month later, units of the Red Army in this segment were redeployed and began preparations for a new stage of crossing the Dnieper. The company of senior lieutenant Rasskazov was the first to cross the river and knock the enemy out of the trenches. They again managed to delve into the location of the German troops for almost four kilometers. The soldiers held the bridgehead and covered the crossing of the remaining forces, although the enemy outnumbered them several times. To hold his position, Rasskazov had to use psychic attacks more than once - he personally got up from the trench and shouted "For the Motherland!" raised his fighters. On November 27, the company developed another counterattack - Rasskazov's subordinates managed not only to retain their positions, but also to facilitate the crossing of the Dnieper for the main units of the Red Army. It was in this battle that Konstantin Ivanovich Rasskazov died at the age of 36.

In February 1944, the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR noted the valor of Senior Lieutenant K. I. Rasskazov and awarded him the title of Hero of the Soviet Union posthumously.

Konstantin Ivanovich married Maria Samuilovna Tyukova in 1927. A year after the wedding, the couple had a son, Alexander.

Memory of the Hero

Rasskazov was buried in a mass grave on the territory of Ukraine (the village of Maryevka, Zaporozhye region).

In his small homeland, in the village of Kochkurovo, a bust of the hero is installed. The grand opening of the monument took place on Victory Day in 1973 - thirty years after the death of Konstantin Ivanovich. The event was attended by his wife and son, surviving fellow soldiers and trackers who managed to find his grave.

The memory of Rasskazov was also immortalized in Zaporozhye. A memorial sign was installed there in the Alley of Heroes.

In the station settlement Platovka, one of the streets was named after Rasskazov (here the company commanded by Konstantin Ivanovich was on retraining and rest in 1943).
