Zavyalov Vladimir Yurievich - psychiatrist and psychotherapist, creator of the MPA test - motivation for alcohol consumption. The developer of the official method of dianalysis based on a philosophical approach to psychological assistance to a person. Included in the unified register of professional psychotherapists in Europe.
From biography
Vladimir Zavyalov was born in Omsk in 1948 on February 6.
In childhood and adolescence, he was interested in music and drawing. In his student years, he painted pictures in the style of cubism. He played guitar and banjo in a jazz ensemble.
Philosophy became the most exciting occupation for Vladimir. He read the works of Plato and Socrates and the works of other ancient philosophers. The sphere “Man and Society” became for him the subject of study and research. He could have expressed himself well artistically or musically, but he considered that psychological help to a person would be more important both for him and for society.
Scientific medical work
V. Zavyalov received higher medical education at the Novosibirsk Institute and primary specialization in psychiatry from Professor Ts. P. Korolenko. I wanted to be a surgeon, but the first practice in surgery showed that he is more a psychotherapist than a surgeon. In those years, the ethics of communication with patients was taught in medical schools from the first classes. Vladimir Yurievich, as a diligent student at the reception, paid more attention to the conversation with the patient. The medical histories of many patients were similar to literary works. Therefore, he continued to follow the path of psychiatry, understanding more and more that everyone needs a healing conversation.
In 1973 he completed an internship in a psychiatric hospital and there he expanded his theoretical knowledge of psychology. Then he received a specialization in projective psychodiagnostics at the Institute. M. S. Serbian.
From 1975-1990 he worked intensively in the department of neuroses and psychiatry. Practices music therapy. He himself compiles individual programs.
In 1981 he defended his Ph. D. thesis on the topic of mental dependence on alcohol. He continues to practice and starts teaching. Understands that students no longer need theory, but practice. You need a connection with real patients.
Further, he improves his knowledge in the USA at the Minnesota Rehabilitation Hospital of St. Mary, develops the MPA-9 method - a test for the motivation of alcohol consumption.
MPA method
Testing is aimed at identifying the motives and reasons for drinking alcohol. The test shows which of the 3 groups the drinker belongs to:
The test gives 45 statements, after carefully working and answering all the questions, a person can understand for himself what makes him want to drink and how to make sure that this desire does not arise.
In 1998 he created the Department of Psychotherapy and Psychological Counseling at the Novosibirsk Medical University. Develops its own system of psychotherapy and training of psychotherapists "Dianalysis", which is officially registered in the All-Russian Professional Psychotherapeutic League (APPL). The system is generally recognized in the field of psychiatry in the Russian Federation.
In 2009, V. Zavyalov left the Novosibirsk Department of the Institute and began working in the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences.
In 2011, together with like-minded former students, he organized an autonomous non-profit organization “Institute of Dianalysis” in Novosibirsk.
Philosophical method
Fifteen years of teaching experience allowed V. Zavyalov to generalize knowledge and create 10 principles that formed the basis of the "Dianalysis" methodology. The main task of this method is to teach the future psychotherapist to work with patients with the help of independent living thinking and clinical intuition. The latter helps to find the right words in a conversation and push a person to change. Zavyalov believes that such help will be more explicit than references to the well-known literature on psychology. The psychotherapist must become a real helper, not a mediator in the world of psychiatry.
The system is based on the philosophical interpretation of A. F. Losev. According to Losev, a myth is a wonderful story of a person, given in words. Every person has an inner myth, and it is the highest way of connecting everything in a person.
V. Zavyalov believes that the most important thing in Russian psychology is a philosophical approach. Comparing the Russian and American mentality, after many years of research, he came to the conclusion that the whole point is in him. Americans have an instructive approach to life, while Russians have a contradictory one.
It is inconsistency that in many ways prevents people from becoming prosperous.
The first and most important tool in V. Zavyalov's methodology is 5 dimensions of human well-being:
- the number of positive emotions - it should be noted how many times a day a person receives positive emotions: he experiences joy, satisfaction and pleasant surprise. Laughter is always positive. A 20-minute state of laughter compensates for almost the entire daily percentage of negativity.
- employment level - you need to identify how a person relates to their activities. Is she "akin" to him or not. Kindred means beloved, interesting and satisfying.
- positive relationships - you can see which people have more communication with: positive or negative. Based on this, you can increase positive connections, call or chat with those with whom you want.
- the presence of meaning and purpose - this indicator should always be present in a person. Otherwise, interest in life is lost. Meanings and goals may change depending on the age period, but they cannot leave a person forever.
- completeness is a feature of the Russian mentality. Incompleteness is often the cause of boredom, longing, and depression. Understanding that a lot was once begun and not finished takes away the spiritual and physical strength of a person. There is only one positive way out - to try to finish everything unfinished in the everyday, professional and spiritual spheres.
The fifth indicator is the most important of all, because a person's memory protects only the brightest and peak pictures of events and the good end of these events is especially important. When the memory is filled with many complete pictures with a positive result, only then does a person feel well.
The psychological and physical health of a person depends on the indicator of well-being.
Since 2012, the "Institute of Dianalysis" has been licensed to conduct educational activities and trains highly qualified psychotherapists, psychologists, educational psychologists, doctors, and narcologists.
V. Yu. Zavyalov has written over 50 scientific papers and books:
In the book “The Drinking Man. What to do?" one version of alcoholism is laid out. And here is the book “The Drinking Woman. Everything is lost?" was given to the author much more difficult. It outlines five points of view on female alcoholism. Both books are relevant in modern society. The presentation of Professor V. Zavyalov is professionally and scientifically grounded. The book gives a good message and subtly calls for a decision to change.
Actual problems of psychotherapy
1. Personal and social side
· Psychologists and psychiatrists often die young. The reason is emotional burnout. V. Zavyalov believes that this can be avoided by choosing the correct theory of work and a philosophical approach to human problems.
· The existence of a false idea that originated in the early 70s. The bottom line was that alcoholism is not only a vice, but also a disease, and if a person realizes this, he will be treated. The person has realized, but is not being treated, but hides behind it. I'm sick, what can I do?
· The presence in society of fear and awkwardness of referring to psychologists and psychiatrists. Unwillingness and disbelief in better changes and results of psychotherapy.
2. Commercial side
Clients now have to be content with a maximum of three sessions with a psychotherapist. Not everyone can afford to understand themselves to the smallest detail and change.
