In 2012, the Moscow International Film Festival is being held for the 34th time. This year, as in previous ones, competitive screenings will be organized at traditional metropolitan venues - in the Oktyabr and Khudozhestvenny cinemas and in the House of Cinema. A new screening location will also open - the Pioner summer cinema in the Gorky Park of Culture.
Go to the film that marks the opening of the festival - this is a Russian painting by Roman Prygunov DUHLESS based on the novel of the same name by Sergei Minaev.
Watch new Russian films as part of the main "creative competition" at the festival. These are "The Last Fairy Tale of Rita" by Renata Litvinova and "Horde" by Andrey Proshkin.
Visit other films from the main competition. These are "80 million" by the Polish director Waldemar Krzystek, "All the cops are bastards" by the Italian Stefano Sollim, "The presence of splendor" by another Italian director Ferzan Ospetek, "Growing up with the wind" by the Iranian Rahbar Ganbari, "Gulf Stream over the Iceberg" by the Latvian Pashkevich, "Naked Bay" by Finn Aku Louhimies, "Apostle" by Spaniard Fernando Cortiso, "Cherry on a pomegranate tree" by Chinese Chen Li, "Door" by Hungarian Istvan Szabo, "Vegetarian ogre" by Croat Branko Schmidt, by Marksik Expiry date, Tinj Krishnan's "Dregs" from Great Britain and "July" by the Bulgarian Kirill Stankov.
Look out for films co-produced by different countries as part of the main program. These are "Lonely Island" (Estonia, Belarus and Latvia) and "Hellfire" (South Korea and the Philippines).
At the end of the festival, find out who will receive the prizes - statuettes of St. George - for the best film (the prize is awarded to the film producer), for the best director's work, for the best male and female roles. A special jury prize will also be awarded.
Also pay attention to the Perspectives competition, a documentary and short film competition, out-of-competition and retrospective screenings, as well as a separate cycle of Russian films.
At the international film festival in the capital of Russia, films that have not previously been shown publicly on the territory of our state will be presented (except for a retrospective screening and a special program of national cinema).
