Valery Semyonov is a former regional politician, and now a member of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, where he lobbies the interests of residents of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. One of the initiators of its unification with Taimyr and Evenkia into one subject.
Biography: childhood and adolescence
Valery Vladimirovich Semyonov was born on September 16, 1960 in Cherkessk. All his childhood was spent in Karachay-Cherkessia. He also graduated from high school there. From the fifth grade, Valery became interested in cars. After the lessons, I attended classes at the Young Technician's Club.
After school, Semyonov became a student at the local automobile and road technical school. He graduated from it with a degree in "car mechanic". In 1979 he joined the ranks of the Soviet army. He served in one of the military units of Norilsk. In the seventies, many recruits were sent to the cold Norilsk. The guys went for two years, but they hung out for tens of years, staying to live there. At that time, you could make good money there.
After serving on the draft, Semyonov also decided to stay in Siberia. He decided to continue his studies in order to get higher education. Semyonov entered the Faculty of Economics of the Norilsk Evening Industrial Institute. At the same time, Valery worked as a mechanic-repairman of vehicles at one of the city's enterprises, and then as a bus driver. After graduation, he became a certified engineer-economist.
Career
After graduation, Semyonov continued to work in his first specialty. After resigning from the position of a bus driver, he got a job in the production association "Norilskbyt", which belonged to the mining and metallurgical plant named after A. P. Zavenyagin. There, Valery was at first an ordinary foreman, but soon received a promotion and became a garage foreman, and then the manager of a mechanization and improvement trust. Subsequently, he was promoted to chief engineer of the entire production association.
In 1997, Semyonov came to the local administration, where he became the first deputy head of Norilsk. At that time it was Vladimir Morozov. Valery left the Norilsk administration two years later.
Over the next decade, Semyonov's labor activity was associated with local companies that were engaged in the extraction of minerals, in particular nickel and copper. So, he held the following positions:
- since 1999 - head of the scrap metal recycling plant of the Polar Division of OJSC Norilsk Mining Company;
- since 2000 - deputy general director in the same structure;
- since 2001 - Deputy General Director of the Polar Division of OJSC Norilsk Nickel.
In 2001, Semyonov decided to try himself in politics. He managed to win the deputy elections to the Legislative Assembly of the Krasnoyarsk Territory of the second convocation. In 2007 he successfully passed the procedure of re-election according to the lists of "United Russia". In parallel, he was the secretary of the Krasnoyarsk branch of the party.
In the same year, Semyonov actively advocated the unification of three neighboring regions - Krasnoyarsk Territory, Taimyr and Evenkia. He took a direct part in organizing and holding a referendum on this issue. In an interview, he stated that the merger process would restore the historical unity of the Siberian territories, significantly accelerate the development of their rich subsoil and improve the quality of life of residents, including the indigenous peoples of the North.
Since 2013, Semyonov began to supervise the preparation of Krasnoyarsk for the first Winter Universiade in the history of Russia, which will be held in 2019. His competence is to control the readiness of sports and social facilities.
In 2014, Semyonov continued his political career in Moscow, which he had long dreamed of. Valery became a member of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation from the Krasnoyarsk Territory. In this position, he replaced Vyacheslav Novikov, who died of a heart attack. At that time, Semyonov had fairly high ratings among the population. Political strategists prophesied for him the post of governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. However, he still decided to move to the capital. As a senator, Semyonov was responsible for the budget and financial markets.
In 2016, the Krasnoyarsk Territory again delegated it to the upper house of the Russian parliament. Semyonov's candidacy was unanimously supported and quickly approved, as he established himself as an influential regional politician who knew well how his region lived.
He was the only candidate for this post, therefore, according to the opposition, he would have been elected anyway. However, a number of political strategists agree that Semyonov is deservedly re-elected. Experts note that as a representative of the Krasnoyarsk Territory in the federal authorities, he actively lobbied the interests of the region and continues to do so. So, Semyonov achieved the support of local industrial enterprises at the state level, helped to increase the regional budget from the federal. He also actively promoted his region in all government programs, attracted investors, including foreign ones.

- medal of the II degree "For Services to the Fatherland";
- the badge of distinction "For services to the city of Norilsk";
- commemorative sign "For service for the benefit of the city of Krasnoyarsk";
- "Honorary Citizen of the city of Norilsk", etc.
Personal life
Valery Semyonov is married. Raises two daughters. Little is known about the senator's wife and children. According to the latest tax return, Semyonov's wife owns an apartment and a Mazda CX-7 car.
