The results of the twenty-third Kinotavr were summed up by the members of the jury chaired by director Vladimir Khotinenko on June 10, at the closing of the festival. In 2012, the Grand Prix of the most honorable Russian film competition was given to the "dark horse" - the drama by Pavel Ruminov "I will be there." The film was shown just before closing and did not cause much excitement among the public. However, the judges appreciated the ambiguous plot: a business woman and a single mother is looking for new parents for her only six-year-old son after she finds out that she is terminally ill, and there will be no one to take care of the boy after her death.

For the third time, the young Ural playwright Vasily Sigarev was recognized as the best director of "Kinotavr", who presented to the competition the depressive drama "Live", which is based on stories about how people in the Russian provinces lose their loved ones. The same film received a statuette for the best camera work, as well as a special prize established by film critics.

The winner in the Best Male Role nomination was Azamat Nigmatov, who played in the history of the friendship between the captain-escort and the soldier-deserter. The jury also noted the prison drama "Convoy" for the music he wrote and for the music written by Alexander Manotskov.

One "best female role" was shared between two actresses Anna Mikhalkova and Yana Troyanova (who also played her husband Vasily Sigarev in the competition film). The tragicomedy directed by Avdotya Smirnova with a funny title "Cococo", according to critics, has become the most "spectator" film "Kinotavr-2012". An easy and ironic story about two blondes with diametrically opposite systems of life values, who met on the train and by the will of fate found themselves in the same St. Petersburg apartment, predict a good distribution fate in Russian cinemas.
