The production of Ukraine can be characterized by conventionally dividing it into three main sectors of the economy - industry, agriculture, and the service sector. Industry is the basis of the country's production and includes such sectors of the economy as: mining and metallurgical complex, coal, oil and gas and energy industries, pharmaceuticals, light and food industries, pulp and paper production, transport.

Step 1
The base of industrial production in Ukraine is metallurgy. Industrial enterprises of Ukraine mine, process and manufacture products from ferrous and non-ferrous metals - pipes, boilers, steel wire, tanks, radiators, cast iron and steel. The products of the metallurgical industry are exported in significant volumes to the countries of the EU, the Middle East, Asia and South America.
Step 2
The fuel and energy complex of Ukraine is poorly developed, the country is one of the states that are energy-dependent on imports of oil and gas. The share of oil production in Ukraine is so small that it does not even allow for its own needs. But the coal industry, on the contrary, occupies a leading position in the world. The colossal volumes of production of brown and black coal allow Ukraine to be in third place in Europe among other producing countries.
Step 3
The light industry of the state is represented by the production of textile, clothing, fur and leather products. Today, due to the crisis in the economy, there is a significant decline in this area. The most stable in this area is the production of knitwear and hosiery, various types of fabrics, carpets.
Step 4
The food industry is realized in the form of food production and has about three thousand items of goods, including alcoholic, brewing, dairy, meat, bakery, confectionery, tobacco, fish, butter and cheese, sugar, wine, and canned goods.
Step 5
The country's agriculture is focused on the cultivation of grain and cereals, potatoes. The state ranks sixth in the world for the supply of wheat and the third for the export of corn. Growing potatoes according to the experience of previous years gives record harvests, but due to the lack of large vegetable stores, it does not allow making this type of agricultural production one of the leading ones.
Step 6
Logging activities are also carried out on the territory of Ukraine. The forest part of the territory is small - only 14.3% of the total territory of the state. Almost 90% - Polesie and Transcarpathia, where timber is harvested, and all woodworking enterprises, furniture factories and pulp and paper production are located in large cities of Ukraine, such as Lvov, Kharkov, Kiev, Odessa. Due to the limited amount of primary material for the production of paper and cardboard, factories for their production switched to an alternative type of raw material used - the production of paper and cardboard from waste paper.
