The future Russian statesman was born on September 26, 1960 in the city of Karasuk, in the Novosibirsk region. Yurchenko received his education at the Institute of Water Transport Engineers in Novosibirsk, where he graduated with a degree in industrial plant automation.

After graduating from the university, Vasily Alekseevich worked for some time as an electrician in the river port of Salekhard. Then he worked for a long time and successfully in the production association "Sibselmash" (Novosibirsk). He started out as an ordinary mechanic, grew up to be the head of an enterprise.

In 2000, Yurchenko underwent extensive additional training at the Academy of National Economy, organized under the Russian government. Vasily Yurchenko - candidate of technical sciences.

At the beginning of 2004, Vasily Alekseevich was appointed to the post of head of the department, which is part of the administration of the Novosibirsk region. Here he was responsible for the development of industry and entrepreneurship.

The former head of the region, Viktor Tolokonsky, became the president's representative in the Siberian Federal District.

The career of a politician ended unexpectedly. In March 2014, President Putin removed Yurchenko from his post as head of the region. The wording read: "due to loss of confidence." Two months later, a criminal case was opened against Vasily Alekseevich. He was accused of abuse of office. The investigation put forward a version according to which Yurchenko's actions caused material damage to the regional budget in the amount of more than 20 million rubles. During the audit, it was revealed that a plot of land for the construction of a hotel in Novosibirsk was sold at a deliberately low cost. Benefits from the transaction were received by a company associated with the enterprises of Oleg Deripaska.

Yurchenko became a defendant in another case. Investigators suggested that he approved the transfer of the site from the category of purely defense land to an agricultural category. By law, only the federal government has the right to coordinate such actions.

In October 2017, Yurchenko's court decision was found guilty of abuse of power. The verdict is three years' suspended imprisonment.
