The scientist's career began in the days of his student days. Ryzhov did not stop working until the last days.

Childhood time

Yuri Alekseevich was born on October 28 in Moscow in 1930. From childhood, the student was fascinated by mathematics, physics, he loved designing and reading books. Ryzhov graduated from the capital Medvednikovskaya gymnasium.

His classmate was the future famous physicist and mathematician Viktor Maslov. Both found common interests, the boys became friends, often preparing for classes together. Since special talents distinguished both one and the other, together they never got bored.

French and German were taught at school. According to Yuri Alekseevich, both were not useful to him. However, Ryzhov, who had already become a famous scientist, had to independently study English for work.

In high school, Yuri Alekseevich was fascinated by astronomy. He dreamed of becoming the discoverer of all the secrets of the universe. Among other features, the future academician was fluent in his left hand. Like the great Leonardo da Vinci, Ryzhov had a unique gift for symmetrical writing with both hands.

This ability was discovered due to the passion of the future famous scientist in painting. At school, left-handedness was considered a disadvantage and children were retrained, forcing them to act with the right. As a result, the future academician fully learned how to use both limbs and both hemispheres of the brain turned out to be active in him.

After an excellent completion of his studies, Yuri Alekseevich, dreaming of a serious profession, chose the most prestigious Moscow university for further education. He became a student at the Physics and Technology Institute. The applicant passed the entrance exams excellently and ended up among the students of the aeromechanical faculty.

Scientist career

Ryzhov was one of his best students. Yuri Alekseevich's research activities began in his second year at MIPT. Through experiments, he was able to prove many theories.

At this time, he began his studies at the Zhukovsky TsAGI Research Institute. The young talent took up the study of aeromechanics of missiles. In 1948 the scientist Petrov drew attention to the young colleague and noted his outstanding abilities.

Ryzhov was offered a place in the laboratory. So the student became an employee of the Keldysh Research Center, where he was engaged in high-speed aerodynamics. Then there was a sharp turn in his biography.

In 1960, Yuri Alekseevich began working as an assistant professor at the Aviation Institute of the capital. The widest opportunities opened before him. The promising scientist made an excellent career, quickly becoming a professor. The next step was the vice-rector's position at the Moscow Aviation Institute.

The Academician of Sciences proved to be an excellent organizer. In 1982, he secured the allocation of the first computer to the faculty for collective work. Then it was a real miracle, but even in a single copy, the machine was able to have a noticeable impact on the quality of training.

Later, again at the request of Ryzhov, the institute received the most modern computers. In 1992, Yuri Alekseevich left his post at the Moscow Aviation Institute. However, in 1999 he returned, becoming the rector of the institute.

From 2003 to 2017, the scientist worked as the head of the Department of Aeromechanics of Aircraft. The future academician has been studying aeromechanics of supersonic speeds since his student days. Later, in this direction, he defended his dissertation, becoming a doctor of technical sciences.

Social activity

Since 1987 Ryzhov has been a full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In the eighties, he insisted on the resumption of domestic aeronautics. Based on his drawings, an aircraft was developed. The design proposed by the scientist was discussed all over the world.

A huge aircraft is waiting in the wings in the hangar of the Ulyanovsk aviation complex. After a while, Yuri Alekseevich proposed a unique airship.

For all the time Ryzhov made many discoveries in the field of aerodynamics. He studied the interaction of atoms with surfaces, devoted many works to the dynamics of a rarefied gas. Academician Ryzhov received many awards for his contribution to the development of science.

He received the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, became a laureate of the State Prize of the President of the country. Since 1989, the distinguished professor has been elected a people's deputy. Since 1992 he became a member of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet.

In 1991, the scientist became the head of the Council on Science, Education and Advanced Technologies.

Until 1998, Yuri Ryzhov was the country's plenipotentiary ambassador to France. In 1999, the academician decided to return to the Aviation Institute, despite the prestige of his posts.

The professor was a member of the Presidential Council. In addition to the country's economic interests, he was engaged in social security. Ryzhov was twice offered to become prime minister.

In 2010, his candidacy was nominated for the presidency, but Yuri Alekseevich refused the offer.

By the beginning of 2015, the academician predicted the onset of the crisis. He has been studying aerodynamics for more than half a century, wrote more than forty works and scientific articles, and was published in many domestic and foreign publications.
