Biography

Maria was born in the northern capital of Russia, St. Petersburg, on September 5, 1980. Parents loved winter sports, and from a young age, their daughter started skiing. At the age of 10, she entered the junior team. After graduating from school, Maria Komissarova entered the National University of Health and Physical Education. Sports career

After the 2010 season, in which Maria was injured - a triple fracture of the lower leg, but was able to quickly recover, the athlete's coaches invited her to try her hand at ski cross. These are the same alpine skiing, but the races are carried out by 4 people, competing with each other throughout the entire route. This type of freestyle is the most spectacular, but also the most dangerous discipline.

The debut for Komissarova was not very successful. Having taken a place in the Russian national freestyle team in 2011, at first Maria took only the last places. But soon she quickly got used to it and in the spring of 2012 she became a silver medalist in Grindelwald, at the next stage of the World Cup and in the same year won a bronze medal in the final of the Russian Cup.

Coaches and experts unanimously argued that this girl really has a great future. She will definitely become famous and bring her country many wonderful victories, go down in the history of big sports. But fate decreed otherwise.

Trauma and rehabilitation

The Sochi Olympics became a good chance for Maria to show everything she is capable of, and the girl did not doubt her success. In February 2014, a tragedy struck at another training session. Sportswoman Komissarova stumbled and broke her spine. This cut short Maria's career and became almost a death sentence.

On the same day, in order to bring the athlete to a state in which transportation is possible, she was operated on in Krasnaya Polyana, and two days later she was transported to Munich, where three more operations took place. Maria underwent difficult rehabilitation, first in a Bavarian clinic, and then in Spain.

The doctors' verdict was cruel and disappointing. Komissarova has transverse paralysis, and it’s a miracle that she survived. But Mary will never be able to walk again. With this forecast, in 2015 she returned home to St. Petersburg, where she was handed the keys to the apartment.

Life after injury

Maria's chosen one is freestyle athlete Alexei Chaadaev, whom she met in training. When the tragedy struck, the guy made a proposal to Komissarova and abandoned his career to be with his beloved. The young athletes became husband and wife in the fall of 2016, having got married in one of the churches of St. Petersburg. And in mid-April 2017, their son Matvey was born.

Maria does not want to be disabled and trains every day to learn to walk again. Already in the summer of 2017, photos of a happy young mother appeared on the instagram of a happy young mother, where she stands on her feet, of course, not without support, but Maria is absolutely sure of success and is not going to surrender to fate. Every day she convinces herself and her fans, of whom the athlete has thousands, that disability is not a hindrance to happiness, and she should not put an end to her personal life under any difficulties.
