Readers are fascinated by the amazing truthfulness of the narrative in the books of this author. The writer did not hide the fact that he drew plots for his works from his own biography. The hardships that befell him taught a man to appreciate the beauty in the world and the people around him.

Childhood

Kolya was born in December 1917. His father Grigory Dvortsov was a carpenter in the village of Kurilovka near Saratov. He was a master of the highest qualifications, so he was able to avoid participation in the incessant armed conflicts. The presence of constant orders and good payment for the work performed allowed the worker to provide his wife and child with everything he needed.

The boy grew up in a prosperous family, where hard work was valued above all. The parents wanted their heir to enjoy all the benefits of civilization. They sent him to a local school for collective farm youth, after which a literate teenager got a job on a collective farm. He was a timekeeper for a field brigade. The father believed that such a position was not suitable for his son. He convinced the boy to get an education that would help him glorify his name.

Youth

Of all the tempting options, Nikolai chose architecture. In 1934 he entered the Saratov Construction College. An exciting student life lasted 3 years. Then, instead of gifts, a letter came from home, in which the parents asked the young man to return. The aged father could no longer bear the entire burden of responsibility for the material well-being of his relatives.

The young man dropped out and came to Kurilovka. He worked on a collective farm again. The economy flourished in the hands of the heir to a working dynasty, and soon he could continue his studies. Our hero no longer had a heart for construction. He was fascinated by the idea of eliminating illiteracy among the peasants. Nikolai Dvortsov entered the Saratov Teachers' Institute, from which he graduated in 1940. For a whole year, the romantic taught Russian language and literature at school in a peaceful country. At the same time, his first test of the pen took place - several stories for children were presented to the readers.

War

In 1941 Nikolai Dvortsov was drafted into the army. He was sent to serve in the East. The Iranian Shah, declaring his neutrality, helped Hitler. Soviet and British troops suddenly entered the country, overthrew a hostile ruler and placed his son on the throne, ready to become their ally. Our hero took a direct part in these events. From hot Iran, the detachments were transferred to the Western Front, where they entered into battle with the Germans.

During the liberation of Kharkov, the soldier of the Palaces was captured. The Nazis decided to use the tough guy as a labor force. He was sent to a concentration camp in Poland, then driven to Poland, and then to Norway. A labor camp was located near the city of Bergen. Many inmates of this prison were reluctant to help the enemy. The prisoners created their own communist organization, which was preparing the escape. Nikolai Dvortsov also entered it. In 1944, guards uncovered a conspiracy and shot several people to intimidate others.

Humanity

In the fall of 1944, the Nazis left Norway. Emaciated people emerged from the gates of the camp. Here they were met by local communists and pacifists who were ready to help them. Old woman Maria Estrem came one of the first, she lived near the camp, saw the poor people every day and felt very sorry for them. She took Nikolai Dvortsov and several of his comrades to her house, treated them, fed them, took care of them as if they were her own children.

Returning home, many years after the end of the war, our hero never missed the opportunity to visit Norway and visit his Russian mother. It was this name that the kind woman received from her fellow villagers and the former prisoners of the prisoner of war camp rescued by her. Dvortsov's friends were surprised that the veteran was ready to set foot on the ground again, where he was threatened with death. Nikolai explained to them that mercy always conquers pain and evil. He wrote about this in his books.

The writer began to make a career from the post of a correspondent for the newspaper "Stalinskaya Smena". Then there were editorial posts in the periodicals "Youth of Altai" and "Altai". When the journalist brought his works to the publishers, he had ill-wishers. The works were dedicated to the fate of the prisoners of fascist concentration camps, and there were people who were looking for some sins behind the author. The home-grown investigators were reasoned by the decision of the Union of Writers of the USSR to accept Nikolai Dvortsov into the ranks of its members. It happened in 1955.
