Sometimes on the street you can find black-haired girls or boys dressed all in black, with beveled bangs, with badges and a bag over his shoulder. These people belong to a youth subculture based on a love of music of the same name. To better understand what emo look like and who they are, you need to better study the very essence of the issue.
History of occurrence and real emo
In the eighties, a musical movement called emocore emerged in the United States. It was a kind of offshoot of hard rock. That is, initially emo is music, and only later the style itself appeared. The first emo considered themselves "true", they exist to this day, but in smaller quantities, since the fashion for style is changeable and fleeting. Tru-emo do not drink alcohol, are vegetarians, do not smoke, do not take drugs, and dress in plaid clothes. Music is listened to exclusively on vinyl records or cassette players.
Emo prefers music with sharp transitions to high notes. The texts in the compositions are usually filled with some kind of deep meaning and try to "touch the quick." The meaning of music is usually about pain, death and love. Emo love to write music and songs on their own. In addition, they try to pour out their experiences with feelings in other creativity. For example, through photography is one of their favorite activities. Real emo are usually bisexual, piercing themselves, as if showing that they are not afraid of death and pain.
Emo in everyday life
The emo you see on the street every day are usually just plain copycats. It is generally accepted that emo just cry and nothing else. In fact, everything is somewhat different - they do not hesitate to show any of their emotions in public: both negative and positive. A real emo, splashing out his experiences in public, is not afraid of condemnation from others.
Basically, to be emo, you don't have to dress in certain clothes and follow a particular fashion. Emo is also a kind of inner state. And vice versa, if a person hung himself with badges and put on something black and pink, but does not have the correct inner state, then he may not belong to this subculture. It is because of the imitators that this trend has turned into fashion, but fashion is fleeting and when it passes, only true adherents will remain.
Is it worth being emo
Possibly being emo and rewarding. After all, then a person will not accumulate bad emotions, he will spill them out. In addition, people who show their emotions in time, according to statistics, live much longer. Perhaps a lot of people will even like it, since openness is very much appreciated.
But at the same time, not everyone will be able to become true emo, since they will have to withstand the opinion of society. But it may not always be positive. If there are many people in your environment who probably will not perceive you positively in your nominal role, it is still better not to take risks and know when to stop.
