The future actress was born in Turkey in the spring of 1987. Her parents had nothing to do with art. My father worked as an engineer and programmer, and my mother was an architect.
Damla is the only child in the family. Parents tried to give her a good upbringing and education. The girl's native language was Turkish, but she quickly mastered English and French, fluently speaks three languages.
Creativity entered Damla's life from early childhood. She always dreamed of becoming an actress, and her parents did not interfere with the choice of her daughter. She began studying at the theater studio early. In her school years, the girl constantly played on stage, began to appear in commercials on television, and already in those years she was predicted a great future.
After completing her primary education at Saint Joseph French High School in Istanbul, she continued her studies at the theater department at the Universite de La Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris III.
After studying in Paris for a year, the young actress received a personal scholarship to continue her studies at Yeditepe University at the Department of Fine Arts in Istanbul. Damla also attended Gillian O'Dowd's Modern Acting Workshops at the London School of Dramatic Arts.
In addition, Sonmez received her musical education at the Mimar Sinan Conservatory, where she studied piano and violin for 2 years.

Film career
The actress made her television debut in 2004. She landed a small role in the television series Omuz omuza. In the same year, she appeared in another television project - "Glass Shoes".
A year later, the actress played in the mini-series "Open the Door", and then in another series - "Madam Maid".
She became widely known for her role in the drama Bornova Bornova. The role of a girl named Ozlem gave the actress several nominations for prestigious awards and the Golden Orange Award.
In 2010, Sonmez played the role of Kyosem-Sultan in the historical drama Mahpeiker, for which she was nominated for the Yesilcam Movie Awards.
The next award awaited Damlu in 2015. She starred in the comedy melodrama Across the Sea. The film was presented at the Milan Film Festival and Sonmez won the Best Actress category.
