Arkady Ostrovsky is a Soviet songwriter. The honored art worker of the RSFSR wrote the songs "Childhood has gone into the distance", "Tired toys are sleeping", "Let there always be sunshine", "Lumberjacks", "I am very glad", which have become popularly loved.
Arkady Ilyich Ostrovsky created many well-known children's songs. The biography of Abraham Ostrovsky began in Syzran in 1914. he was born on February 25th. The boy's name was then changed to Arkady. Father, Ilya Ilyich, tuned the instruments. He was a good pianist, but due to his injury he had to say goodbye to the dream of a professional career.
The beginning of creativity
The parents noticed the talent of their son early. The boy learned to play the piano. He liked to study. True, Arkady played etudes with pleasure, and scales quickly bored him. Then the young musician began to improvise. By the time he was fourteen, Ostrovsky had become a virtuoso.
In 1927 he moved to Leningrad. Training began with Ivan Belozemtsev, but it had to be interrupted. The young man entered the FZU to help his father raise his younger brother Roman (Raphael). Teachers predicted a career for him as an excellent blacksmith. At one point, the guy played a waltz on a piano that was accidentally left in the club. Then he replaced the musician and started working part-time at the club.
Soon, classes with Belozemtsev resumed. He recommended that the talented student enroll in a music college. Arkady followed the advice in 1930. Sometimes his favorite studies had to be sacrificed for the sake of helping his younger brother. Arkady was engaged in orchestration, played in the evenings in the orchestra. He created a concert brigade together with his bandmates.
The tour began. By chance, on the train, the young musician was lucky enough to meet Rakhlin. In 1940 he offered Ostrovsky a place in the Utesov State Orchestra. Acquaintance with the team took place in the capital. Everyone liked the new member. New tours began. Arkady was a pianist, accordionist and arranger.
By the beginning of the war, Arkady Ilyich decided to start a composer's career. However, the Great Patriotic War prevented the implementation of the plans. With the orchestra Ostrovsky traveled to the fronts. The musician had to constantly deal with arrangements. During the war, the first works of the young composer were also written. He created songs based on the poems given to him. Among them were the works of Sergei Mikhalkov. For the first time he performed the works "Native Side" and "I am a Demobilized" Leonid Utesov. The songs were received with great approval from the audience.
Composer activity
After the war, the wife tried to persuade her husband to leave his work in the orchestra and pursue a solo career. But Arkady Ilyich was in no hurry to leave his comrades. He agreed to his wife's proposal only two years later. The main reason was the words of the composer Mark Fradkin. In 1947, Arkady more than once tried to return to the orchestra, where he had been called more than once. However, this decision was not at all welcomed by the spouse.
In 1948 he was admitted to the Union of Composers. Ostrovsky's career and creative growth began. Very soon Arkady Ilyich turned into a composer beloved by the whole country. At first, the novice composer wrote his works to order. However, more and more often, light lyrics were seen in his works. Finally, he became the founder of a new pop direction, a courtyard cycle.
His songs about love sounded, the combination of a guitar with a button accordion turned out to be especially successful. Fame came after meeting and working with Lev Oshanin, a poet. In 1948 their song "Komsomols - Restless Hearts" won the first prize at the competition. In 1954, Klavdiya Shulzhenko performed Ostrovsky's "My Old Park" on the radio. The song immediately became popular.
Notoriety
The composer wrote songs for the World Festivals of Youth and Students. In 1962, together with Lev Oshanin, the famous "Let there always be sunshine" was created. She won first prize at the International Song Festival in Sopot.
The lyric cycle "And in our yard" was written in 1962-19065 in collaboration with Oshanin. 5 songs were included in the cycle. The composer's works were performed by the most famous singers.
Ostrovsky's talent was especially well revealed in children's creativity. And to this day, the musical intro "Tired Toys Sleep" created by him sounds, which has become legendary.
The composer treated the kids with boundless love. Therefore, they became a separate topic of his work. Often all the kids rode in his car. All the composer's love for them and his soul were put into the songs for the guys. Vocalist Eva Sinelnikova sang on behalf of Buratino a cycle of children's songs of the musician.
Family and work
Ostrovsky's personal life was happily settled. The pop ballerina Matilda Efimovna Lurie became his wife. The acquaintance took place in a choreographic circle on Vasilievsky Island. Matilda led the team. Together, the young people soon went to the theater, then for a night walk.
They soon became husband and wife. In 1935, a child appeared in the family, a son, Mikhail. Subsequently, he became a physiologist, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The songs of the last years of the composer's life became the brightest, optimistic and as if penetrated by sunlight.
In 1967, the Honored Art Worker of the Russian Republic died on September 18. In 1998, the children's music school No.8 of the capital was named after him.
