The biography of the future artist began in 1920. The native of the capital was born on the first day of June into a family of factory workers. After graduation, the aspiring artist ended up in the troupe of the Theater of Drama and Comedy. Soon from there, Ushakov moved to a branch of the Maly Theater. With the artistic brigade, the actor traveled to the fronts. After the end of the war, the performer from 1947 to 1950 worked in Potsdam at the Theater of the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany.
After returning to the capital, Ushakov worked for two years at the Vakhtangov Theater, at that time a theater headed by Mikhail Astangov. In 1952, the service began at the Satire Theater, which lasted almost six decades. The artist did not strive to act in films.
The film career began as a sailor of the cruiser "Kirov" Sergei Markin in the film "Sea Battalion" in 1944. It was told in the film about the defense of Leningrad.
1953 brought the artist his starring role. After participating in the film "Wedding with a Dowry", Ushakov became a real star of Russian cinema. The audience liked the film very much, and the whole country sang the songs from it, "On your porch" and "Kurochkin's couplets".

The spouses did not have children; Daria Miloslavskaya, the goddaughter of Vera Kuzminichna, helped them. Vladimir Petrovich Ushakov died on July 17, 2011.
