Biography
Igor Vladimirovich was born in 1965 in Volgograd. In 1984 he graduated from the art school of this city.
1990 was marked for Ushakov with another significant event, when the future founder of the choir graduated from the State Conservatory. N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov in the city of Leningrad. He left the walls of this musical temple, having acquired two specialties. So Igor Vladimirovich became a certified choir conductor and a specialist in ancient Russian singing art. In the same year, Ushakov founded a male choir at the Valaam Monastery, and 4 years later created a male choir “Valaam”.

Igor Ushakov is a father of many children. The choir director has three children: Yaroslav, Igor and Martha.
Career
The creative path of the historian of ancient and military music is inextricably linked with the choir "Valaam". Together with his charges, Ushakov released many cd-disks. There are also chants from the Valaam, Solovetsky, Kirillo-Belozersky Monasteries. Other discs contain Russian soldier's musical compositions of 1812, as well as songs and hymns that sounded in the imperial army at that time.
Together with his choir, Ushakov also created a musical chronicle of the war in the Caucasus, which is dedicated to the memory of Russian soldiers and military leaders who bravely fought in the Caucasian war.
