Yuri Ivanovich Moiseev - Soviet hockey player, team forward, Honored Master of Sports, Olympic ice hockey champion. In 400 games, he scored 197 goals. Received the title of Honored Trainer of the USSR. He worked with such teams as Dynamo and Ak-Bars. Thanks to him, the teams have won many competitions.
Three cities became relatives for Moiseev: Moscow, Penza and Kazan. In Penza, he was born, in the capital he earned sports fame, and Kazan became a city for him, where he won recognition as a magnificent mentor.
Hockey career
Yuri Ivanovich was born in Penza in 1940, on July 15. The sports boy was fond of hockey. He became a graduate of the local sports team "Trud".
From there, the talented young player moved to Metallurg Novokuznetsk. Moiseev quickly got used to the new team. Thanks to his throw, the team won the country's top league championship for the first time.
The hockey player playing in the second three forwards attracted the attention of several well-known clubs. Both Chemist and Dynamo dreamed of getting him.
The first was Tarasov. Moiseyev was drafted into the army - and he immediately turned into a member of the CSKA club. The young athlete had nothing against a military career. She attracted him.
The hockey player managed to graduate from the higher command military school in the capital as an external student, became a graduate of the railway technical school and the regional Moscow Pedagogical Institute. Along with intelligence and determination, the young player demonstrated excellent playing qualities. The famous Vsevolod Bobrov noted that he had a unique style.
In his opinion, there was no overwhelming defense from the enemy for Yuri. He destroyed any fortifications. Anatoly Tarasov made the right decision by placing Moiseev in his most famous "top five". On him and his partners, the great coach tested his now legendary system.
The coach sought the appearance of a new role in domestic hockey, midfielders. He entrusted the fastest link not only with attacks, but also with the defense of distant approaches to the goal. In the system of pressing the enemy, exhausting and delivering smashing counterattacks, Yuri Ivanovich proved to be irreplaceable. He demonstrated superb skating, speed, courage in fights and agility. Often he became the personal guardian of the famous Vyacheslav Starshinov.
Championship
Moiseev's sports career came during the heyday of CSKA under the leadership of Tarasov and Tikhonov.
The future famous coach had a chance to learn from real stars Alexander Almetov, Anatoly Firsov, Nikolai Sologubov.
In 1968 in Grenoble, Yuri Ivanovich received the Olympic "gold". He considered this award to be the pinnacle of his career.
However, he confidently called the match in the European Cup with Spartak in 1967 the best match in his life. The draw was perfect for the Red-White who won the first game. It seemed that they did not leave the army team a single chance.
The tired opposing team was losing the score. However, Moiseev did not just fight with partners in the troika Blinov and Mishakov. They gave hope to their players. First, Mishakov cut the gap, then Moiseev equalized the score.
"Spartak" at this time wavered. In three minutes they conceded three goals. The hope of winning the Cup for the first time ever disappeared before our eyes. The bet on counterattacks did not pay off. It was Yuri Ivanovich who played a decisive role in the victory of CSKA.
Coaching activities
Coaching career was no less successful than playing career. He adopted Tarasov's tough but effective technique. The new coach did not turn into a harsh dictator.
He maintained iron discipline, but tried not to oppress the players, as he coached the guys with whom he had recently played.
The new activity began with the hockey school of the army club. Then it continued in the Kuibyshev SKA. In 1976, Yuri Ivanovich moved from CSKA.
For a long period, until 1984, Moiseev assisted Viktor Tikhonov, adopting his skills and knowledge. He took on teamwork, conducting training sessions, communicating with hockey players.
Moiseev never planned to remain second. The acquired skills came in handy for his coaching work at Dynamo from 1984 to 1989. Thanks to the mentorship of Yuri Ivanovich, the blue and white managed to win the bronze and three silver medals at the national championship.
In 1985 the team came close to the championship title. They were separated from the "gold" by a few minutes. CSKA players did not let the hockey players become champions.
For several seasons, Moiseev was at the head of the second national team of the Union, went on tour with them in Europe and North America. From 1989 to 1990, Yuri Ivanovich was a trainer-breeder of the NHL Edmonton Oilers.
Awards
By 1995, the mentor headed the ambitious young team "Ak Bars". The Kazan team was a recognized "non-Cuban" player. Over the course of several seasons, the outspoken middle peasants have become a team of champions.
According to the rules, the leader was determined by a circular system. The team of the new coach did not allow themselves to relax during the whole long season. As a result, Ak Bars overtook Magnitka and Torpedo.
Unexpectedly, the capital team "Wings" won two matches from them. In 1998, the leopards took the top step of the national championship podium. The second visit to Kazan in 2001 turned out to be successful again. The coach managed to rally the rather weak players and bring them to the final.
Shortly before his death, the famous mentor became a coach-consultant of Metallurg Novokuznetsk. He believed that in the renewed line-up, the “steelworkers” would be able to win both in European competitions and in the national championship.
For his activities, Yuri Ivanovich was awarded the Orders of the Red Banner of Labor, the "Badge of Honor", the medal of the Order of Merit to the Fatherland.
The family life of an athlete and a mentor was also successful.
He has a son Igor.
The great athlete, who became the first Olympic champion in the history of Penza, left his life in 2005, at the beginning of September.
In the hometown of Yuri Ivanovich, a monument to the excellent athlete and coach is erected.
