Don't see the internet as a smarter replacement for television. If a TV set can be compared to a vessel (see above), then the Internet is like a city with both museums and casinos. And which of these to visit depends only on you, on your preferences and willpower.

If you don't have an interesting hobby yet, be sure to get one. Choose it according to your preferences and skills, the main thing is that it involves creativity, creation. This can be, for example, modeling, electronics, fine arts. Having a hobby, spending free time, which, as you know, everyone has limited, it is on him, you will be forced to watch less TV, and the Internet will begin to be viewed only as a source of information on this hobby - to use the Internet idle, aimlessly, free you just won't have time.

Sometimes “seeing television from the inside” is much more interesting than being just a spectator all your life. Sign up for a weekend extra on any TV show - it's easy today. This kind of shooting is a little tedious, but having been “on the other side of the screen” of your favorite talk show or TV game, you will probably lose some interest in this program, since the process of shooting it will no longer seem mysterious to you. In addition, you will receive a small fee for participating in the extras.

The insidiousness of television also lies in the fact that it keeps the viewer at home on the couch, thereby causing physical inactivity. Radio in this regard is much better, if only because you can listen to it with headphones even while jogging, even in the gym, even on a hike. Do not consider a pocket TV or a phone with a built-in TV as a replacement for the radio, since during sports you will have to constantly look at the screen, which is very inconvenient. It is better to set up unlimited Internet in the same phone, which will allow you to listen to Internet radio anywhere.

Don't be tempted to get your TV out of the house. This step is unlikely to please your family. It is better to show them a personal positive example: for example, if you yourself refuse to watch TV on the pretext that you have an interesting hobby, they will probably be interested in it and also want to get carried away.

Learn to analyze information received from TV programs. Do not blindly believe everything that is said on the screen, especially when it comes to advertising information.

Go on a family vacation to a place where there is no TV. When you return, think: how much have you lost without looking at it? Ask the same question to other family members. Try everything off TV and at home for at least a week after your return - what if you like it and you want to continue the experiment?

Take a digital watch with a stopwatch function that you can start and stop. Calculate how much time you waste in a day watching TV. Think about what you could use this time to do. Or at least do your household chores while watching programs, and not sitting motionless on the couch in front of the TV.

To prevent your children from watching everything on TV, use the special “child lock” function in the device. Protect them from transmissions that can cause nervous overstrain, containing scenes of violence and eroticism. But let not only children's programs be among the permitted ones.
