Elizabeth Melis Jow, commonly known as Malese Jow, was born on February 18, 1991 in the American city of Tulsa, which is located in Oklahoma. Her father was Chinese American, and her mother's ancestors were Cherokee Indians.

Malese is the oldest child in the family. She has a younger sister, Makenna Joe, and two brothers, Jensen Joe and Braden Joe. When the girl was nine years old, she moved to California with her mother, sister and her brothers.
