Fate…
After visiting the dacha, Valery Borisovich with his wife Irina and nephew Sergei decided to go home. On the morning of the tragedy, Kharlamov unexpectedly changed the driver's seat with his wife, who was worried that he did not get enough sleep. He wanted to be in time for training in Moscow, which is why Irina insisted on such a castling, wishing that her husband could rest even on the road. Due to wet asphalt and bad weather, Irina was unable to cope with the flying car. The car was thrown into the oncoming lane under the wheels of a truck. The driver of the car transporter tried to dodge Kharlamov's Volga, but no matter how hard he tried, the blow was strong. A collision, similar to an outbreak, led to the fact that within a minute Valery and his nephew Sergei were gone. According to experts, death was sudden and inevitable.
The drivers who came to the rescue pulled Irina out of the car, for some time she moved her lips, but after a few minutes her heart stopped forever. An hour after the disaster that happened, almost all of Moscow learned about the death of the famous hockey player, who was a multiple champion and honored master of sports, he was respected and loved by many people, even those who were far from sports.
Parting
The accident that claimed the life of the hockey player was not the first for him, in 1976 he already got into an accident, but after it he recovered and returned to the ice again. They say that the death from a big car to Kharlamov was predicted by Vanga, a Bulgarian seer, but Valery Borisovich himself did not believe in her vision, and therefore often drove in his car.
The funeral of the victims took place at the Kuntsevo cemetery in Moscow, where thousands of residents of the capital came, who wanted to say goodbye to the champion and favorite of hockey. The funeral procession consisted of about a thousand people. It is quite easy to find his grave in the cemetery.
The bust, cast in bronze, is also installed at the CSKA rink in memory of the hockey player.
After going to the end of the central alley, you need to turn left, and after passing the first turn, turn again in the same direction - and you become contemplators of the impressive bas-relief of Valery Kharlamov in a hockey helmet.
At the site of the tragedy, on the 74th kilometer of the Leningradskoe highway, a monument is erected - a memorial in honor of Valery Kharlamov. It looks like a large washer made of thick metal, it is rumored to weigh about 500 kilograms. The name and surname of the hockey player is engraved on the puck, there is a stick next to it. This monument is a tribute to the outstanding sportsman of the USSR.
