How to find out if an organization exists
How to find out if an organization exists

It is necessary

the name of the organization, its number, tax authorities, the Internet

Instructions

Step 1

The actual existence of the firm is only one side of the issue. It must be legally registered, have licenses issued by government agencies. Therefore, you better track the existence of a company through official structures and documents.

Step 2

In addition to the name of the organization and its address, it is advisable for you to know its number in the unified state register of legal entities (USRLE). The main state registration number (OGRN) has been issued since August 2002, therefore this information will be relevant only for companies created after this period. This number, as well as the taxpayer identification number (TIN), is contained in the seals and on all official documents of the company. OGRN is 13 and 15 digits. Combinations of numbers are not chosen randomly, so you can do the basic check yourself.

Step 3

If the OGRN consists of 13 digits, then discard the last of them, and divide the remaining number by 11 (first step). Do not take into account the remainder, multiply the whole resulting number by 11 (second step). Calculate the difference between the obtained values of the first and second step. If this digit is not equal to the last digit (check digit) in the OGRN, then you have an invalid number in front of you.

Step 4

For a 15-digit OGRN, the algorithm of actions is identical, but only multiplication and division is carried out by the number 13.

Step 5

The most reliable and up-to-date information will be provided by the tax authorities, where you can send a request for the company you are interested in. Before that, you will have to pay the state fee.

Step 6

You can also get information from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities on various Internet sites offering such information for review. Fill out a special form with titles, there are many. A more precise search query will save you the trouble of looking through the entire list of companies of the same name. However, when making a request through the site, remember that the site databases may be out of date at the time of your request.
