The fate of postal items can now be traced via the Internet. Information about the passage of a parcel can be obtained directly on the website of a specific postal service, on the website of postal services, via RSS, e-mail or even SMS (depending on the tracking service provider), as well as using a special program. Services for determining the location of the parcel are free - having paid for the shipment, the sender pays for the "additional service" for tracking the shipment.

Each postal item is assigned a unique number during registration (postal identifier, tracking number, air waybill, tracking number). This number is intended for tracking RPO - registered postal items, which include parcels. The identifier is contained on the check, which is issued to the sender upon receipt of the parcel at the post office. For postal items sent by Russian Post within the country, the tracking number consists of 14 digits, for international items it is 13-digit and is a combination of numbers and Latin letters.

To track a parcel, parcel post or registered letter sent through the "Russian Post", go to the official website of the company www.pochta.ru. On the main page of the site you will see the "Track" button, under which there is a window for entering the tracking number. If you often use the services of the Russian Post, sending or receiving registered items, you can register on the website of the postal operator. Then you do not have to re-enter RPO numbers every time - they will be saved on the site. In addition, if you wish, you can use the notification service about the change in the status of the parcel - every time new data about the postal item appears in the system, a corresponding notification will be sent to the e-mail.

Sites of other postal services work in the same way: to determine the location of the parcel in the section on tracking shipments, a track number is entered, after which the history of operations is displayed. Please note that when entering international numbers, you must use the Latin keyboard layout and enter letters in uppercase or in the “all uppercase” mode.

If several days have passed since the moment of sending, and there is no information in the system, or if the status of the parcel does not change for a long time, you need to contact the post office and write an application for search.
