Due to the fact that the duration of daylight hours cyclically changes throughout the year, decreasing in winter, the consumption of electricity for lighting also cyclically increases. To somehow reduce it, many countries are introducing "winter time", setting clocks back in late autumn and returning to normal time in spring.

Instructions

Step 1

Start by determining the day on which you want to set the clock to winter time. When this energy saving measure was used in Russia, the transition took place at 3 am from the last Saturday to Sunday in October. In European countries, this is done on the same day, but the clock is shifted to 1 hour GMT (now it is called UTC - "Coordinated Universal Time"). In both North American countries, it is necessary to switch the arrows a week later - at 2 am on the first Sunday in November. But at the same time, it is necessary to clarify whether "winter time" is used at all in the state where you are located. In Ukraine, before the transfer, it also does not hurt to find out the current state of affairs - decisions on the cancellation and refusal to cancel the transfer of arrows are sometimes taken there several times a year. On the African continent, this method of saving is not very relevant, since closer to the equator the duration of daylight hours changes little with the change in the season.

Step 2

Move the clock hands back one hour if daylight saving time has arrived. Of course, there is no need to do this exactly at three o'clock in the morning - "rewind time back" in the evening, before going to bed, or vice versa - in the morning. Do not forget to do this on all clocks you use (wristwatches, wall clocks, mobile phones, built-in household appliances, etc.). Although, if you lose sight of any of the gadgets, then something terrible is unlikely to happen: the main thing is not to forget exactly those watches that you use regularly.

Step 3

Many electronic watches can make the transition to winter time on their own, so before translating "hands" in a cell phone, computer and other electronic devices, first make sure that this has not yet been done by a smart device. If this option is not enabled, enable it in the device settings. For example, in the system clock of a Windows computer operating system, such a setting is placed on the "Date and Time" or "Time Zone" tab (depending on the OS version) of the clock settings window.
