The illegal spy is fluent in the language of the host country. But, even with phenomenal abilities and memory, he is unable to remember all the jargon, slang words, all the little-used definitions inherent only in a particular locality or occupation. Therefore, for example, if, according to the documents, a person did military service at such and such a time, has such and such a military specialty, and in a conversation with colleagues did not understand the jargon designation of weapons or ammunition known to any serving man, this is a reason to be wary.

Any conditioned reflex can be "slowed down", kept under control. But if a person gets tired, thinks or relaxes, he can manifest again. For example, it is common for Russian people, counting out loud, to mechanically clench their fingers into a fist. Western Europeans, on the other hand, unclench their fists when counting aloud. Such subtleties are inherent in literally everything. Every nation has its own rules, brought to the level of reflexes, as it is customary to say hello, to have a conversation, to visit, to eat, to pay the bill in a restaurant, etc. That is, if a person posing as a Russian behaves in everyday life, simply speaking, not in Russian, pay attention to this. There is a reason to think seriously.

Finally, if a person for some reason stubbornly does not want to talk about his childhood years, remember his neighbors in the house, yard, the first teachers, talk about the places where he was born and grew up, this should also alert you. The fact is that spies deliberately avoid such conversations so as not to be caught in ignorance of local peculiarities. For example, an illegal will begin to remember how he used to fish in a local river as a child, and a native of the same place will be surprised: “Why, she was already completely shallow in those years, there are ankle-deep water! What kind of fish?"
