To use this information, go to the website obd-memorial.ru. Select the section "Documents on the fallen soldiers". Then you need the "database about soldiers killed during the second world war" field. After entering the database, click "Start Search". Now enter the information that you know about your grandfather or great-grandfather and wait. True, it is not a fact that the system contains the information you are interested in. Indeed, during the war there were thousands of military graves, about which there was simply no one to tell.
Step 3
If you have not found the information you are interested in on this site, you can try to search in another way. To do this, go to the soldat.ru website. There is a section "Books of Memory" here. It contains information collected from books in memory of various regions and districts of the country about soldiers wounded and buried during the war. Here you can find out in which hospitals, in what period the soldiers were lying, who was wounded, when they were discharged, and much more.
Step 4
You can also contact search organizations with a request to find a person. They constantly go on expeditions to look for places of unknown soldiers' graves. In order for the search to proceed more successfully, you need to transfer to the search engines all the information that you have - letters from the front, information about where the soldier was, when he disappeared, in what kind of troops he served, etc.
Step 5
Any of these methods will definitely give results, and you will be able to reburial the deceased hero in his native land. Or, if it is impossible to get the bodies due to the peculiarities of the area where they were found, you can at least take the flowers to the place of death of a relative.
