In the process of evolution, many species of plants and animals were exterminated by people themselves, and even more were put on the line of extinction. Today, the rarest specimens of flora and fauna are protected by the state and listed in the Red Book of Russia.

Water lily

The yellow water lily is under state protection - the closest relative of the white water lily. She lives in water, swampy floodplains of rivers, in shallow water, and her large leaves are located both on the surface of the water surface and under water. Its other name is "egg-capsule", it got due to the shape of its fruit. The pod begins to bloom at the end of May and lasts until August. The flowers are large, almost spherical, bright yellow in color.

In the south of Russia, in Dagestan, Kabardino-Balkaria, North Ossetia, you can see a dolomite bell, a very rare flower. At the time of flowering, the plant throws out long peduncles up to 45 cm high, covered with amazing white flowers up to 4 cm in size. Most often it grows on rocky slopes, gravelly soils, pebbles, limestones and dolomites at an altitude of 2500 m above sea level. Lives in small local groups, propagates by seeds.

Violet

On the banks of the rivers of Russia, the edges of mixed forests, in meadows, on rocky slopes, an incised violet grows - a very beautiful and delicate flower. It is a stemless plant up to 5 cm in height, with short petioles turning into oval incised leaves. Charming purple corollas are attached to small peduncles. The flowering period begins in May, propagated by seeds, which retain the ability to germinate for a long period.

Ginseng

A relict rare plant, wild-growing ginseng is found on the territory of the Primorsky and Khabarovsk Territories. Its habitat is considered to be deciduous-coniferous forests with loose, well-drained, humus-rich soils. Wild ginseng grows very slowly, reaching an age limit of about 100 years. In medicine, its root is highly valued, the weight of which can reach 400 g. Medicinal alcohol tinctures, tablets and decoctions are made from this valuable raw material, which are used for neurasthenia, hypotension and overwork.

Bulbous herb, curly lily or locust begins flowering in mid-summer. It is a shade-loving plant up to 70 cm high with a straight stem and dark green small leaves collected in whorls. Turtle-shaped flowers of lilac, pink or dark purple color with long pedicels are attached to the stem. The oblong narrow leaves are curved. The lily is pollinated by night butterflies, which fly to the delicate scent that intensifies towards night.
