The authors of such appeals strive not only to convey any information to the addressee, but also to make it available to the public. Therefore, an open letter is the letter that was submitted for free reading by everyone: published in a newspaper, posted on the Internet, etc.

Step 1
Send an open letter to the editorial offices of newspapers, magazines, TV and radio companies. If the addressee of your letter is the governor, the head of the city administration, deputy, businessman or regional official, contact the regional and city media. Federal publications and TV programs may not be interested in your letter due to the local nature of the problem.
Step 2
Type the letter or write in legible handwriting. Attach an editorial note to the main text. In it, list the reasons why you consider it necessary to publish your open letter, indicate the return address and contact phone number.

At the post office, issue a registered mail with a receipt confirmation. This will give you the opportunity to control the delivery of the letter and find out about its fate in the editorial office, referring to the date and number of the notification. When you send an email, set up your email program to receive a delivery report and the addressee reads your message. Save a copy in your outgoing mail folder.

Journalists are not required to publish your open letter. Therefore, try to first talk with the editor-in-chief of the publication, radio station or TV channel. Having found out his position, you will either get a refusal immediately, or enlist the support of the editorial board. Interested journalists will not only help you make the open letter public, but they will also conduct their own investigation and monitor the reactions and actions of the officials responsible for resolving your issue.

Post your open letter online. First of all, study the official websites of the departments whose activities are discussed in your appeal. Most ministries, regional legislative and executive bodies provide site visitors with the opportunity to leave comments in a special section. The President, the Prime Minister, the leaders of political parties and public organizations have electronic receptions.
Step 6
In addition to the official sites, you can use social networks, regional or specialized forums, personal blogs and personal pages. For unofficial Internet resources, attendance is an important criterion. The higher it is, the more chances your open letter has to be read.
Step 7
Distribute the open letter in leaflets. This method is appropriate and effective when the problem affects a relatively narrow circle of people. For example, when addressing a teacher or school principal with an open letter, authors can place several copies of it on the stands in the classroom, in the teacher's room, on the notice board, etc.
