Vadim Baykov is a famous musician, singer, composer and producer. The peak of his popularity came in the nineties. His songs "Bridges are burning", "On Ordynka", "You are my best friend" sounded on many radio stations in the country. Until 2006, he was the artistic director, songwriter and producer of Alsou.
Vadim Baikov runs the VB Pro production center. His activities are fully focused on the publication and recording of Orthodox music.
Finding a destination
The future famous musician was born in Volgograd on March 18, 1965. His father taught at a music school, his mother worked as a music director in a kindergarten.
The creative family broke up when the son was five years old. Together with his mother, Vadim moved to Klimovsk near Moscow. A seven-year-old boy entered the capital's State Choir School.
The passion for rock music did not pass by the restless guy. With friends, he tried to create vocal and instrumental groups. The first concert took place in the apartment of one of the friends of the initiator of the idea. The spectators were girls whom the boys sympathized with.
Baikov played a homemade bass guitar connected to a tape recorder. The role of the drums was played by pans covered with duct tape. After a successful debut, the guys began performing at school evenings. The boy was so captured by the hobby that he abandoned all subjects at the school except music.
At thirteen, Vadim played in the most stellar line-up of the city of VIA "Ritm". He turned out to be the youngest of all its participants. Later, the aspiring musician moved to a new collective, "Impulse". From that time on, problems with studies began.
There was not enough time for training. It turned out that it was impossible to combine regular work with study. The direction of the school reacted to the direction chosen by the student without approval. Vadim left the educational institution.
The path to glory
Falling in love with rock was replaced by jazz. Baikov decided to continue his studies at the pop department at the regional music school in the piano class. Only there were studied jazz styles and plays of this direction were performed. The study was given to the young man without effort. The choir school provided excellent training. As part of the orchestra, Vadim performed at jazz festivals for two years. Here work in the specialty was not considered a taboo.
The first professional team for the guy was VIA MARI at the Yoshkar-Ola Philharmonic. Touring the country was a good artistic practice. The next page of the biography was work in the "August" ensemble. The musician collaborated with the ensembles "Dialogue" and "Leisya, song".
Vadim was thinking about a solo project. He wrote songs. Increasingly, they began to sound on the radio. By that time, he was already married. In the family of the composer and his wife Galina, their daughter Tanya grew up, who was born in 1985. The attempt to create the Variant-2 group did not bring success, and radio phonograms sounded only under the name of Natalia Ostrova, with whom Vadim worked. In the end, the musician returned to Moscow.
Many well-known ensembles wished to work with him. He opted for the team of Lev Leshchenko and accompanying VIA Spektr. Maestro Baikov, represented by the student, performed his songs at his concerts. The school was very helpful.
Concurrently, the aspiring soloist worked in the studio of a popular singer. He wrote songs for himself and for the teacher. The head of "Spectrum" invited Vadim to work with the ensemble. As part of it, Vadim traveled to many cities, and visited foreign trips. The tour in China became a colossal success. After the triumph, the issue of a solo career was resolved.
In 1991 Baikov left Leshchenko's team and started an author's project. He wrote many songs, which were performed under the fictitious name of Senya Vodkin by Evgeny Pedchenko. The albums were selling well. Gradually, a lot of materials for a solo collection have accumulated. His main song was "Russian Roulette".
Performing and producing
Cooperation with the "50x50" program has begun. The popular program was an excellent start for the musician. For some period, Vadim realized that creativity had stopped. However, it was at this moment that support appeared. The album "Arithmetic of Love" was recorded in the studio of Yuri Loza. Igor Krutoy liked the collection.
Thanks to him, an acquaintance with Valery Belotserkovsky took place. With his support, clips were released for the songs "Bridges are burning", "I have no wife." The latter has become very popular. The colleagues used all the accumulated experience to support Alsou, then an aspiring singer.
At the end of August 1998, Vadim's son Vanya was born.
From the end of 1999, the stage of work began exclusively with Alsou. In 2000, its result was the second place at Eurovision and the singer's performances at the most prestigious concert venues in the country, trips abroad.
With his eldest daughter Tatyana, the composer recorded the girl's solo album "Daddy's Daughter", which was released in 2002.
Tanya Baikova studied Chinese. She graduated from a modeling school, studied at the Faculty of Philology, dreams of a career as a journalist. Music has become a hobby.
At the very beginning of November 2004, the musician had twins Anya and Masha in his family.
Since 2005 Baikov took the place of the chief manager of Alsou. He prepared new compositions, was engaged in filming videos and preparing the singer's concerts in the West. The managerial and production activities took almost all the time. The main focus was to gain success on the western stage.
After many years of silence, in 2008 the musician released the album "Heaven" to the verses of the nun Elizabeth, the abbess of the Kaliningrad Monastery of the Holy Martyr Elizabeth.
