The LGBT movement (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) is constantly trying to organize gay pride parades in Russian cities. But on June 6, 2012, the Moscow City Court upheld the decision to ban such events until 2112. The movement's activists filed appeals, but the refusal to hold gay pride parades was recognized as legal.
Judging by the results of those actions of the LGBT movement that they have already managed to carry out, they do not bring anything good either to persons of non-traditional sexual orientation, or to residents of Russian cities. Almost all such parades ended in massive fights between participants and opponents of the movement.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin considers it inappropriate to hold gay pride parades in Moscow. His opinion has not changed since 2010. The Moscow Mayor is also familiar with the attitude of the majority of the capital's residents to such actions - sharply negative. He believes that the opinion of respected pensioners, parents and other Muscovites should be taken into account.
A public opinion poll showed that about 60-70% of Russians are against gay pride parades (according to various sources). Likewise, the authorities of the northern capital abandoned the march of sex minorities, fearing to provoke citizens into riots and fights. The heads of the St. Petersburg administration analyzed the poll data and decided that gay pride parades are more likely to promote lesbianism, homosexuality, bisexuality and transgenderism than to fight against violations of civil rights.
Conflicts and unrest are not needed by the government of other Russian cities, where the majority of citizens are also actively opposed to the conduct of actions by sex minorities. The LGBT movement demands that gay pride parades be allowed, as in many European countries. The same tolerance and tolerance is expected from Russia.
But activists of sexual minorities forget that in those countries there was also a rather brutal struggle of homosexuals for their rights. They were also beaten, and some even died. Public opinion of Westerners is by no means unambiguous, some have a negative attitude towards gay pride parades and clashes occur in Germany and Holland.
The Russian government believes that members of the gay movement should fight for their rights in a less shocking and defiant way.
