For many years France, from the point of view of the inhabitants of Russia, has been one of the most attractive countries for emigration. The openness of the French immigration policy largely contributes to the fact that every year thousands of our compatriots strive to become permanent residents of the French state. But although it is really easier to obtain a residence permit in France than in many other EU countries, immigration to this country has its own specific features that you need to know.
Instructions
Step 1
French law provides foreign citizens with quite a few opportunities for immigration. You can get a legal residence permit when you marry a French citizen, when you get a contract to work in a French company, when you participate in a youth cultural exchange program, as a result of starting your own business in France, or as a political refugee. Moreover, in most cases it is relatively easy to obtain the necessary documents.
Step 2
Immigration upon marriage is one of the most popular and affordable ways to obtain a permanent residence permit. A feature of the French immigration policy is that a residence permit can be issued not only in an ordinary traditional marriage, but also in the creation of a civil union (concubinage) or even in the conclusion of a temporary pact of cohabitation (PACS). In the latter case, practically no obligations are imposed on the partners, except for the fact that the French partner has at least some kind of housing and a source of constant income (meaning for the last 3 months).
Step 3
It should be borne in mind that in order to obtain a residence permit on the basis of marriage, the consent of the French mayor's office is required. And this consent may be denied if you plan to enter into a relationship with an alcoholic, drug addict, malicious defaulter of alimony, or repeatedly divorced unemployed. In all other cases, French officials are quite loyal to foreign spouses.
Step 4
If you intend to move to France as a specialist in an employment contract, first of all, you will need an invitation from a French employer. Moreover, the future employer will not only have to sign an employment contract with you, but also prepare a package of documents (dossier) for the Labor Directorate. In addition to your diploma and justification for the need for your presence as an employee, this dossier will include obligations on the part of the employer in terms of social and health insurance of the future employee.
Step 5
For a foreigner who wants to do his own business in France, you will need to obtain not only a residence permit, but also a personal merchant card (carte d’identite de commersant). This method of immigration is more difficult and longer than the previous ones, in addition, it requires serious financial costs. But if you plan to do something in terms of trade, business, or become a top manager of any company, you cannot do without a merchant card. Therefore, it is better to collect the necessary information related to your activity in advance and prepare the required documents.
