However, even if you do not consider such extreme cases, sometimes you can find out whether or not a criminal case has been opened against you, only by contacting the competent authorities. The same authorities should be contacted in order to find out whether he was brought against the one who caused you moral, physical or material damage.

Step 1
Contact the police station at the place of your registration if you still do not know whether a criminal case has been opened against the person who harmed you, if there has been no reaction from the internal affairs officers to your application. If the case has not been opened yet, ask why your appeal was ignored. It often happens that the application is “lost” or the reason is not considered too serious for the institution of the case. In this case, contact the prosecutor's office with a complaint about the inaction of police officers.
Step 2
The complaint must be made in two copies and each of them must be marked with the registration number of this document. Attach to it all the documents you have that prove the legality of your claims. However, it can also be sent by registered mail with notification. If, within two weeks from the moment of contacting the prosecutor's office, no "progress" has occurred in the case, ask for a refusal to initiate a criminal case and complain to a higher authority. If possible, contact the reception of the deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation in your district and the city / regional administration with a complaint. In the end, if the truth is on your side, the case will be opened, and unscrupulous police officers will be held accountable for inaction.
Step 3
If you want to find out if a case has been opened against you, then contacting the police department is a reckless step. Ask trusted persons or relatives to inquire about this.
Step 4
If it comes to debts on loans to the bank or evasion from military service, contact the Federal Social Security Service and the military registration and enlistment office, respectively. Neither bailiffs nor recruiting officers have the right to detain you, so go there safely.
Step 5
If an accident occurred through your fault, as a result of which people died or were injured, and you fled the scene, ask someone from your relatives or those people you trust to contact the traffic police and find out if a criminal case has been opened against you … But in any case, then call the relatives of the dead or wounded with an expression of condolences and ask how you can atone for your guilt before them, and do not ignore them.
