Biography
Vladimir Mikhailovich was born in 1960 in the small Belarusian village of Kholochye. His parents were ordinary rural teachers. After leaving school, Sotnikov studied first at the Mogilev Pedagogical Institute, and then at the Belarusian State University at the Faculty of Journalism.
In 1983 he successfully entered the A. M. Gorky, who graduated in 1989. Vladimir studied at a prose seminar led by V. S. Makanin.
After graduation, Sotnikov worked at the Writers' Union and the Ministry of Culture.
Since 1994, Vladimir Mikhailovich began to closely engage in literary work.
Creation
The first publication of the work of Vladimir Sotnikov took place in 1985 in the magazine "Youth". It was the author's debut story for adult readers.
After that, his prose was published in various literary magazines ("Continent", "Banner", "Yasnaya Polyana" and others).
Since 1991, Sotnikov has been officially a member of the Union of Russian Writers.
In 1998, Vladimir Mikhailovich began writing books for children, which were published by the EKSMO publishing house. It all started with the fact that in the evenings he told his sons real stories from his childhood, and when the funny "stories" ended, he began to come up with interesting stories for them. It was these stories that formed the basis of the first works of the author, which he wrote for children.
The works of Vladimir Sotnikov have changed the idea of many parents about the children's detective story. The writer's stories are distinguished by the originality and liveliness of the narrative, a simple and correct view of the world around them, as well as excellent humor that is understandable to both children and adults.
More than thirty children's stories by the author have already been published. Among them are the series "Black Kitten", "Spilled Water" and "Children's Adventure Club" which are especially beloved by the readers.
Sotnikov also writes works for adults. His most popular and successful works, addressed to the older generation, are the books "The Cover", "Spilled Water" and "Photographer", published in 2010.
In all three works, one hero appears - a village boy, endowed with a special gift for an unusual and subtle perception of the world.
In addition, Sotnikov wrote several screenplays and biographical works.
Personal life
Vladimir Sotnikov lives in Moscow, is married, he has two already grown sons.
The wife of Vladimir Mikhailovich is Tatyana Sotnikova, who also writes books, which are published under the pseudonym Anna Berseneva. In addition, she is a candidate of philological sciences and teaches at the Literary Institute.
The family of writers has been cooperating for a long time with the well-known large publishing house EKSMO.
The eldest son of the Sotnikovs is already working as a journalist, and the youngest is finishing his studies as a psychologist.
Among the favorite children's books are the novelist Anatoly Rybakov, Yuri Koval and Nikolai Nosov. Sotnikov admitted in an interview that he loves to add a touch of reality to his children's works, since real life, in his opinion, is always more interesting than fiction.
