People who donated blood for free and many times are awarded honorary titles. In Ukraine, this title is called "Honored Donor of Ukraine", and in Russia - "Honorary Donor of Russia." Unfortunately, the benefits provided to donors are valid only in the territory of the country where they donated blood.
The title of Honored Donor of Ukraine is a state award that is awarded by the President of Ukraine in accordance with Ukrainian legislation. According to the regulation on honorary titles, Ukrainians who donated more than 100 single maximum allowable doses of blood and its components can become honored donors.
Benefits for Honored Donors of Ukraine
Citizens of Ukraine who have been awarded the title of Honored Donor receive special silver badges and have a number of benefits. For example, they can have dental prosthetics in public clinics free of charge and without a queue, buy prescription medicines with a 50% discount, receive paid vacations annually, have an increased pension, etc.
Are the benefits extended to the territory of Russia?
The title of Honored Donor of Ukraine is a state award - accordingly, all benefits due to him are valid only on the territory of the state of Ukraine. In Russia, Ukrainian donors cannot count on receiving benefits, which is quite obvious. Donors are respected all over the world, but only the country for the benefit of which donors donated their blood provides them with benefits.
For example, the title of Hero of Ukraine can be cited. Regardless of the amount of merit due to which a person received this high state award, the Hero of Ukraine will not be able to use the benefits established for the Hero of Russia on the territory of the Russian Federation. The situation is exactly the same with the title of Honored Donor of Ukraine.
Honorary Donor of Russia
In Russia, people who donated blood and its components more than 40 times (plasma - more than 60 times) receive a badge "Honorary Donor of Russia". The awarding of this badge is handled by the Ministry of Health and Social Development. The predecessor of the Honorary Donor of Russia badge was the Honorary Donor of the USSR badge. Now the holders of the Soviet badge of honor enjoy all the privileges intended for honorary donors of Russia.
Every Russian citizen who has been awarded the badge of an honorary donor is entitled to an annual payment of 12,000 rubles. This amount is tax deductible. In addition, Russian honorary donors have the opportunity of extraordinary treatment in public hospitals, the priority purchase of sanatorium vouchers at the place of work and the provision of annual paid leave (while the donor can choose the time for the vacation himself).
