The biography of Vitaly Borisovich began in 1960. He was born in Krasnoyarsk on the last day of July. The head of the family was a well-known international journalist. Since 1974, Vitaly's hobby for photography began. An experienced master Alexander Vasilyevich Mishchenko was his teacher. The photograph, taken by an aspiring photographer at his native school in early September 1976, appeared in the Krasnoyarsk Komsomolets newspaper. From that moment on, Ivanov's works were constantly published in various publications in the country and abroad.

In 1974 Vitaly became interested in swimming with fins. Having started classes at the sports and technical club "Dianema" at the local institute, the guy became a master of sports of the USSR. After completing his studies at school in 1977, Vitaly decided to continue his education at the law faculty of the state university, but his attempt to enter was unsuccessful.

At a local television factory, he started working as a photographic assistant. In 1978 Ivanov became a student at the State University in Irkutsk at the Department of Journalism. At the same time, work began at the editorial office of Krasnoyarsk Komsomolets. Then the young man was sent to work for the newspaper "Krasnoyarsk Railroad".

Formation time

In April-May 1978 Ivanov was seconded to the northernmost port of the country, the village of Dikson, as a freelance correspondent. From there he was transported by helicopter to the Kapitan Sorokin icebreaker, which was performing a test flight to pilot a diesel-electric ship along the Murmansk-Dudinka route.

In February 1982, Vitaly's personal life settled. His classmate Elena Chernykh became his wife. The first child, Alexey, appeared in the family in 1983. In 1992, he had a younger brother, Alexander. Ivanov's creative biography developed successfully. He became a laureate of the regional photography competition "Horizons of Krasnoyarsk" three times.

During his studies, the photographer worked at the Department of Journalism, visited television as a sports columnist. The graduate was invited to work by several newspapers, including the capital. In 1984 the family moved to Taimyr.

On the northernmost mainland of the country, the head of the family began working in the local editorial office. As a photojournalist, he traveled the entire peninsula, visited polar stations, reindeer herders, and fishermen. The journalist wrote about hydrographers and sailors.

Achievements

Most of Ivanov's life is inextricably linked with Dixon and the Arctic. He passed the entire route of the Northern Sea Route several times on icebreaking and transport ships. In 1987, the journalist visited the North Pole for the first time. The Arctic and northern themes became central to his work. The journalist collaborated with the TASS photo chronicle, his publications constantly appeared in the press.

In 1993 Ivanov became the organizer of the Yenisei historical and journalistic expedition. The group traveled several times along the river from Tuva to Dikson, from source to mouth, in just one navigation. Valery Borisovich twice became a laureate of "Siberia Press-photo", and in 2001 he was a diploma-winner of the international photo competition "InterPress-photo".

In 2002, Ivanov's photo exhibition "Unknown Siberia" took place in Paris. The journalist, together with Vladimir Skovorodnikov, demonstrated the Siberian way of life to the French. Later the exhibition became personal and was shown in many countries.

In 2003, the journalist received the title of the best photojournalist of the Krasnoyarsk Territory according to the results of the creative regional competition of the Union of Journalists. Since 2005, training for beginner photographers began. His own photography school was opened in Krasnoyarsk in 2009.

Present time

Vitaly Borisovich founded the "Creative Center" and directed it for several years. Ivanov in 2014 became a finalist of the national competition "The Best Photos of Russia". The tasks of the participants included the recording of the most significant events in the country's modern history for the creation of a photo archive, which is unique in its composition, later on.

Since 2015, Vitaly Borisovich has been a member of the National Creative Union "Photo Art" and the "Russian Geographical Society". Then he won the "Best Photos of Russia" competition.

In 2018 Ivanov was named the best observer of the Krasnoyarsk Territory according to the results of the competition of the local Union of Journalists. Author's exhibitions of the master have been repeatedly held in Russia, as well as in many countries of the world. Ivanov became the creator of the documentary films "The Difficult Road to Dance", "Music of the Sayan Mountains".
