From biography
Alexey Vasilyevich Kuzmich was born in 1945 in Belarus into a large peasant family. The father died of front-line wounds. The mother and sisters took care of the boy. A cousin, a self-taught artist, and an art teacher played a significant role in the life of a teenager.
After the age of nine, the young man entered the art school in Krasnoyarsk. Here he often visited the museum and looked at the paintings of V. I. Surikov. After the army he returned to Belarus, entered the theater and art institute and after graduation taught there. Then he took up creativity.
Creative way
The creative career of A. Kuzmich was not immediately successful. Once at the exhibition he presented "Young Danae". The commission was outraged. For more than a decade, the paintings did not recognize him. Subsequently, the author of the world's greatest collection of paintings with the image of the Madonna became a member of the Belarusian Union of Artists, a member of the International Cyril and Methodius Academy. His works are found not only in museums in Belarus, but also abroad.
Kuzmichevsk Madonnas
Images of women were predominant in his work. Most often, they and their babies were depicted as golden-haired. In light, transparent garments-capes of different color shades: golden, blue, pale pink, scarlet, red. The eyes are deep, large, sad, often crying. There are Madonnas like queens in a panther-colored cape, speckled. On the head is a majestic crown. Nearby are guardian angels. Frames of images of Madonnas are interesting. My father was an open, sincere person. He could give a guest any of his paintings. His career ended at the age of 69 - in 2013, his son-designer contributed to the publication of the book The Creator of the Exalted Madonnas and the opening of the museum of A. Kuzmich Sr.
