Serial television films have become one of the mainstream television products on the air today. Many people are looking forward to the release of the new series, discuss the twists and turns of the plot on fan sites, hold festivals and conventions on their favorite TV series. But it often happens that good TV shows are suddenly closed, seemingly for unexplained reasons.
Instructions
Step 1
The first television shows appeared in Europe in the middle of the last century. Since then, a huge number of episodes have been filmed, devoted to funny situations, time travel, superheroes, romantic relationships, adventures, detective stories. There are several main reasons why TV shows are closed, and most of them are related to money, because a TV series is a commercial product, which means that it should not be unprofitable.
Step 2
Perhaps the most common reason for TV closings is low ratings. If a TV show does not attract a sufficient percentage of the audience to the screens, TV channels are forced to curtail production of new episodes in order to free up resources and airtime for more profitable products. In the end, the cost of filming one episode can reach several million dollars, and if you add to this the price of screen time, then the cost of showing a series will increase even more. Many series that showed impressive ratings at launch ended up being canceled precisely because too few people watched them. The airtime of any TV channel is too expensive to spend on unprofitable TV shows.
Step 3
By the way, the need to change the broadcast schedule is also one of the reasons for the completion of the series. There are only 24 hours in a day, and the so-called "prime time" (the time when most people decide to watch TV, for example, after the end of the working day) is even less. New products appear constantly, and in order to free up space for them in the "prime time", even series with a good rating can be closed.
Step 4
In addition, the series may be closed, because their storyline has come to its logical conclusion, all conflicts are resolved, good has won and everyone is happy. To a large extent, this applies to multi-part adaptations of literary works. The book has ended, and the series will also end. However, TV shows based on original scripts also cannot last forever, and when the writers' fantasy ends, production of the series stops. Also, the reasons for the closure may be conflicts in the film crew, strikes, dismissals, illness or death of one of the main participants in the creation of the series.
