Marina Stanislavovna Kapuro is a Russian singer, Honored Artist of the RSFSR, the owner of a unique voice of four octaves. Her repertoire includes a large number of songs in the genres: folk, rock and ethnic. In 2007, Kapuro, together with the Yabloko group, created the musical performance ABVamania about a girl who dreams of performing songs of the famous ABBA group.
Today Marina Kapuro rarely appears at large concerts, many say that she does not fit the modern format of music. But until now, her fans, not only in our country, but also abroad, admire the beautiful voice of the singer and her songs.
Childhood and youth
Marina Kapuro was born in the fall of 1961, in Leningrad. Her family came from the noble family of the Vorontsovs, who survived not only the revolution, but also repression. The family tried to bring up the strength of spirit, fortitude of character, striving for goals and a positive outlook on life in the girl.
The girl from an early age got the opportunity to study singing and music. Her parents sent her to study at the Palace of Pioneers, where a studio was opened, and she studied vocal skills at the Conservatory under famous teachers.
In addition, the girl attended a school with in-depth study of foreign languages, where she perfectly mastered English. This helped her a lot in the future, when she began to pursue a professional musical career and record songs in English. Even in her school years, the girl was invited to appear on television, radio, in the Philharmonic and the Capella.
After leaving school, Marina entered the Academy of Culture, where she received a degree in history of world culture, but continued to study singing and perform on stage.
Creative way
In the late 70s, Marina and her husband organized their own group, called "Yabloko". At first, the soloist of the group was Yuri Berendyukov, and Marina was the backing vocalist. But after visiting the rock festival, where the group performed together with Aquarium, Earthlings and Russians, everything changed, and Kapuro became the constant soloist of Yabloko.
During the existence of the group, its repertoire has undergone significant changes. They started out as a folklore group and then moved on to ethnic and pop music. In the repertoire of Marina Kapuro, there are still songs that she began to perform in those years: "Mamma", "The loon was flying," "It's light in my room."
The further creative biography of the singer was very successful. She became a participant and laureate of the contest "From a Song to Life", and then went to the Soviet Song Contest in Sochi, where she took third place. A year later, Kapuro travels to Sweden and takes second place at the pop song festival, and then becomes second at the Sopot-88 festival in Poland. In the following years she often toured abroad and took part in many song festivals and competitions in Norway, Japan, Croatia and the USA. On a tour of the United States, Kapuro gave a huge number of concerts, where she sang songs in English and Russian.
For the 1994 Goodwill Games, Kapuro wrote a hymn that she sang at their opening.
In the 2000s, the singer, together with the musicians of the group, creates the play "AVVamania", where she sings the songs of the famous group ABBA. All performances were sold out.
Three years ago Marina Kapuro recorded her new album in English "Matinee". It was produced by David Courtney, who has worked with celebrities such as Tina Turner, Eric Clapton and Paul McCartney. Courtney believes that Kapuro's music and songs will be in demand in the European music market thanks to her unique voice and impeccable English.
Personal life
Marina met her future husband, Yuri Berendyukov, when she was 17 years old, joining the ensemble, which at that time was directed by Yuri. At first, their relationship was purely official, but gradually the love of music and a common cause brought the young people closer together, and soon they became husband and wife, and a year later a son was born in the family. Marina and Yuri are still together and cannot imagine life without each other.
