Biography
Sandra Lee Waldrup was born in Santa Monica, California on July 3, 1966. Sandra later gave up her last name and became known as Sandra Lee. Sandra was the first child in the family, the girl's father was Wayne Waldrup, and her mother was Vicki Svitak. When Sandra was 2 years old, her parents filed for divorce. Lee's mother could not support the girl, so Sandra stayed with her grandmother, but her mother promised to take her away.
A few years later, Sandra's mother got married and returned for her daughter. In the new family, Li had two brothers and two sisters. The girl lived with her mother until she was 15 years old.
Sandra left her mother at 15 and moved to Wisconsin to live with her father. Missing her brothers and sisters, Sandra became depressed and even thought about suicide. To make matters worse, her father was convicted of second-degree sexual assault and sentenced to one year in prison. Sandra has not spoken to her mother since she left home.
Career in the food industry
At 18, Lee entered the University of Wisconsin - Lacrosse, but had to drop out to return to California. Sandra was thinking about her own business, so in 1989 Lee created a food product called Kurtain Kraft, which she sold through TV commercials.
Lee also released a series of home improvement videos. By the end of 1993, Sandra had made $ 6 million with Kurtain Kraft. In 1993, Lee became a spokesperson for KB Home and a few years later married the company's CEO, Bruce Karatze, in 2001. Sandra and Bruce were married until 2005.
Book writing
In 2002, Lee wrote a book, Homemade Cooking, a month later that book made the New York Times bestseller list. In 2003, Lee starred in the cooking program Semi-Home Cooking with Sandra Lee.

Personal life and other projects
In 2005, Lee began dating New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. Sandra currently lives in Westchester, New York.
Li has published 25 books throughout her life, including her memoir Made From Scratch, which chronicles her difficult endeavors. Sandra is now the national ambassador for the Share Our Power campaign and host of the world's largest annual fundraiser, The Great American Pastry.
In May 2015, Li announced that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and would have a double mastectomy.
