Glossary is a dictionary of certain concepts or terms, united by a common specific topic.
This term comes from the Greek word "glossa", which means language, speech. In ancient Greece, glosses were called incomprehensible words in texts, the interpretation of which was given side by side in the margins. The collection of glossaries later became known as the glossary.

What is the purpose of the glossary?
The glossary is necessary so that anyone reading your work could easily find an explanation for the tricky words and complex terms that are teeming with your document.

How to compile a glossary?
To get started, read and familiarize yourself with your work carefully. Surely, you will find in it many different terms that are available on this topic.
Once you have identified the most common terms, you should compile a list of them. The words in this list must be in strict alphabetical order, since the glossary is nothing more than a dictionary of specialized terms.
After that, work begins on the compilation of the articles of the glossary. A glossary entry is a definition of a term. It consists of two parts:
1. the exact wording of the term in the nominative case;
2. a substantial part, volumetric revealing the meaning of this term.

When compiling a glossary, it is important to adhere to the following rules:
- strive for maximum accuracy and reliability of information;
- try to indicate correct scientific terms and avoid all kinds of jargon. If you use one, give it a short and understandable explanation;
- while setting out several points of view in an article on a controversial issue, do not accept any of these positions. The glossary is just a statement of the facts at hand;
- also do not forget to give an example of the context in which this term can be used;
- if desired, the glossary can include not only individual words and terms, but also whole phrases.
