Step 1

Production of Twilight began in April 2007. In consultation with the author of the book and script, Stephenie Meyer, Catherine Hardwicke was approved as director. Then the casting of the actors began. Kristen Stewart was almost immediately approved for the leading role of Bella Swong, but the choice of an actor for the role of Edward Cullen was not so simple. In total, five thousand actors were viewed. The four finalist candidates included Robert Pattinson, Jackson Rathbone, Ben Barnes and Shiloh Fernandez. As a result, Robert Pattinson was nevertheless approved for the role of a vampire, and Rathbone subsequently played Jasper in the film.

Step 2

Filming began in February 2008 and lasted until May 2 of the same year. Most of the actors, including the main characters, were still little known at that time. Robert Pattinson was familiar to audiences for his role as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and Kristen Stewart played in several low-budget films. In addition, the film contains a fairly large amount of computer graphics, which also made it possible to reduce the cost of shooting. As a result, the film's budget by Hollywood standards turned out to be quite modest - only $ 37 million.

Step 3

A special place in the film "Twilight" is taken by the images of vampire characters, for the creation of which the actors were put on complex makeup. Robert Pattinson had to dye his hair and change his hairstyle. He also wore brown contact lenses every day during the shoot. Subsequently, in some scenes, the actor's face and body were processed using computer effects, which made it possible to achieve the shine of the vampire's skin.

Step 4

The picture was released worldwide on November 17, 2008. In Russia, the premiere took place three days later. Already in the first weekend, the film managed to work out its budget and subsequently began to make profits at an incredible speed. In total, the picture managed to collect about 400 million dollars at the worldwide box office.
