Biography
Born in 1988 in Golden Coast, Queensland, Australia. His parents divorced when Luke was a child. Mitchell has two brothers, an older and a younger one.
All the Mitchell brothers have been playing tennis since childhood, but with varying degrees of success. The elder later became a coach, the younger made a professional career, is one of the ten best tennis players in Australia. Luke has been playing tennis since he was 8. When he turned 18, he dropped out, deciding to try to make an acting career.
Career
Mitchell started out with small roles on television, and later signed a contract with the international company Sudden Impact Entertainment. With the company troupe he took part in many theatrical performances, touring throughout Australia.
While on tour in Melbourne, he successfully auditioned for the role of Chris Knight in the popular Australian television series Neighbors. Mitchell's character has appeared in 11 episodes.
After filming ended, he returned to his hometown to work on the teenage series "H2O: Just Add Water".
In 2008, he starred in the gay-themed film Performance Anxiety.
In June 2009, Mitchell moved to Sydney to film the soap opera Home and Away. Mitchell's character is Romeo Smith, a cute teenager who loves to flirt with girls. For his role as Romeo, he was awarded the Logie Award for Most Popular Young Actor. In November 2012, he announced that he was planning to leave the series. Since 2013, Mitchell's character has been removed from the film's plot.
In 2013, he began acting in the science fiction series "The Tomorrow People". Mitchell played community leader John Young. The first episodes of the series had high ratings, but it began to decline steadily. 22 episodes were released, after which the series was canceled due to low interest from viewers.

In 2009, he began dating filming partner Rebecca Breeds. The couple announced their engagement in 2012, and a year later Luke and Rebecca became husband and wife.
