Supyan Abdullaev is a field commander of the Chechen militants, one of Doku Umarov's close associates. Back in the 80s, he stood at the origins of the Islamic Renaissance party, at the same time he began to actively promote the ideas of Wahhabism. He took part in two Chechen military campaigns.
Biography: early years
Supyan Minkailovich Abdullaev was born on November 8, 1956 in Kazakhstan. Chechen by nationality. His ancestors lived in the village of Khatuni, 57 km from Grozny, and belonged to the Tsadaharoi taipu.
In the spring of 1944, the parents were deported to Kazakhstan as part of the "Lentil" operation. Then more than half a million Chechens and Ingush were exiled to Central Asia. The authorities officially named cooperation with the fascists and anti-Soviet activities as the reasons for the forced resettlement.
In the 60s, the famous "thaw" came and the Caucasian peoples were allowed to return. The Abdullaev family came to their native lands. The story of the forced deportation left an imprint on Supyan's fate. Subsequently, he will become a fierce opponent of the Russian authorities.
In 1972, Abdullaev graduated from school in his native village and entered a pedagogical school. Then he continued his education at the Chechen-Ingush University. At the same time, he became a master of sports in freestyle wrestling.
After high school, Abdullaev worked as a physical teacher in several schools in his area. At the same time, he was trained by alims (experts in Islam) in Chechnya and Dagestan. Soon, Abdullaev began to teach Islam lessons in children's religious schools.
In the late 1980s, together with active co-religionists, he created the Islamic Renaissance Party. Later, he took over at the helm of the Ar-Risal Islamic Center in Grozny.
Political activity
After the collapse of the Union, Abdullaev began to directly participate in the political events of his native Chechnya. He opposed its entry into Russia.
In 1994 he took part in the storming of Grozny. He was part of a militant group that attacked the armed opposition opposing Dzhokhar Dudayev. In the same year he became the deputy commander of the Islamic Battalion. In 1996, Abdullaev commanded the militants during the next assault on Grozny, during which the FSB building and the republic's government house were attacked.
After the end of the first Chechen campaign, the then President of Chechnya, Aslan Maskhadov, appointed him deputy head of the republic's Ministry of State Security. As a former teacher, he was responsible for the educational work of the personnel.
In 2004, Abdullaev became the Minister of Finance of the Chechen Republic. At the same time, he takes an active part in the second military campaign.
Abdullaev was the right-hand man of the separatist Doku Umarov. In 2007, he made Supyan vice-president of Chechnya.
Personal life
There is no information about the wife and children. Probably, she was hidden on purpose so that the family of the militant could not get revenge.
Abdullaev was killed in March 2011 during a sweep of a militant base in one of the regions of Ingushetia.
