When you accept a gift, you know perfectly well how to behave, because this is taught from childhood. But there are circumstances when the gift must be returned to the donor. Not everyone is ready for such a situation and can imagine how to refuse a presentation so as not to hurt the feelings of the person who presented it.

Step 1
Always give thanks first for the gift. Even if you cannot accept it, you value the attention and care that was shown to you. If the gift came by mail or was brought by a courier, still try to thank the donor personally by calling him. If the gift was presented in public, try to refuse it privately.
Step 2
Express your regrets that you cannot accept such a generous gift. Make it clear that the donor choice is fine, but there are circumstances that force you to refuse.
Step 3
Explain the reason why you cannot accept the gift. If this is an official present and it is contrary to the principles of the company to take it, it is better to write to the sender a letter in which to quote the point that prohibits you from accepting such gifts. If this is a gift for your child, and you cannot allow him to have such things, or a present for you, but you do not accept such expensive gifts not from relatives, be honest about it. Explain openly and directly in order to avoid similar situations with the donor in the future, because if you are lying, he can present you with something similar next time and the unpleasant situation will repeat itself.
Step 4
Return the gift with the packaging, keeping it as sealed as possible. Then the donor may be able to return it to the store and avoid unnecessary expenses and costly reminders of what happened.
