TEFI was established by ART (Academy of Russian Television) as a national award for excellence in television arts back in 1994, similar to the Emmy award in the United States. The path of its formation is long and difficult, with many scandals and misunderstandings. But it was and remains the most significant competition in Russia, evaluating the work of television workers.
Instructions
Step 1
Various Russian TV channels (mainly central) nominate their products for the TEFI Prize. The work, program or series submitted for the competition must be televised within a certain period of time. The start date and the end date of this time period are announced by the organizers. It is usually limited to a year, but there may be exceptions.
Step 2
All works are divided into nominations (now there are 50 of them). On 48 of them TV products are represented by program producers (TV channels, TV studios, art studios, etc.). The remaining candidates (“Special Prize” and “For Personal Contribution”) are nominated only by members of the Academy of Russian Television. Their current composition is 555 people. These are famous people whose lives are entirely devoted to television broadcasting.
Step 3
The submitted works are evaluated in the course of meetings of professional guilds: the best cameramen evaluate the work of the cameraman, the producer - the producers, the design - the designers, etc. There are nine such guilds in the TEFI award. Their members vote for the works they like, and the representatives of the permanent auditing company can only count the votes. The best TV products are determined by the number of votes collected, three of which become finalists. All three must be shown in the video before announcing the winner at the awards ceremony.
Step 4
The magnificent show of the announcement of the winners is divided into two stages. One includes all nominations in the "Persons" category, the other - in the "Professions" category. They are held at different sites and on different days.
Step 5
The main prize for the laureates of the competition has remained unchanged for 18 years. This is a bronze statuette "Orpheus", created by the famous sculptor Ernst Neizvestny. The winner in each nomination is announced, traditionally by opening the envelope, by the colleagues in the shop. They also present the statuette.
Step 6
Any winner will be given the opportunity to make a short speech for fellows and spectators after the award. And after that, each of them leaves the hall, going to the press conference. There are many journalists waiting for them with a wide variety of questions.
Step 7
Regional TV channels have the opportunity to show themselves at the TEFI-Region competition. It is similar to the central one, but it is not held in Moscow. In addition to the direct award ceremony, trainings and master classes of various kinds, as well as training programs, are organized for the participants.
