This man gave the children Dunno. Exciting adventures unfolding on the pages of Nikolai Nosov's books, to this day, captivate not only children, but also their parents. And this is not surprising: more than one generation of readers grew up on the books of Nikolai Nikolaevich. Nosov could well have become an actor or musician. But he was attracted by creativity of a different kind: he is known primarily as the author of books for children.
From the biography of Nikolai Nikolaevich Nosov
The future famous children's writer was born in Kiev on November 10, 1908. Nikolai's father was an actor. In addition to Kolya, the family had three more children: two brothers and a sister. Childhood was not the easiest: Russia entered the imperialist war, hunger and devastation reigned in the country. Then the time came for the revolution. Often the family did not have enough food. The family did not escape the typhus epidemic. But the Nosovs managed to survive all these troubles.
The path to writing for Nicholas turned out to be winding. At first, the boy wanted to follow in his father's footsteps and become an actor. Then he became interested in music and even tried to learn how to play the violin. However, Nosov Jr. did not have enough patience for this, he eventually abandoned his career as a musician.
The situation in the country was difficult, it was necessary to somehow earn a living. At the age of 14, Nikolai went to work. He mowed grass, sold newspapers, did any job that could bring at least some kind of income.
In 1924, Kolya graduated from the seventh grade and began working at a concrete plant. Later he switched to brick production. From a young age, Nosov learned all the delights and disadvantages of physical labor.
Stages of a long journey
In addition to theater and music, Nikolai had another hobby: he was seriously interested in chemistry. At one time he planned to make this science his life's work. However, his education was incomplete. To enter a university, one had to graduate from an evening school. But before passing the exams, Nikolai switched to another fascinating occupation: he was interested in cinema and photography. As a result, Nosov refused to enter the Kiev "Polytechnic" and became a student at an art institute.
After a while, the young man managed to transfer to Moscow, where he graduated from the Moscow Institute of Cinematography.
For many years directing became the main profession of Nikolai Nikolaevich. During the Great Patriotic War, Nosov made training films for the army. And he did it with extraordinary talent. His film about tank technology was so good that Nosov received the Order of the Red Star for this creative work.
Passion for literature
Nikolai Nosov became interested in children's literature back in the 30s. Before the outbreak of World War II, he published the story "Zateyniki". Interest in books for children arose naturally: the future writer began his work by telling fairy tales to his little son.
However, the director's activity and the outbreak of the war forced Nosov to put aside pen and paper. Nikolai Nikolayevich returned to this type of creativity after defeating the Nazis. In the second half of the 40s, much of what later became considered classics emerged from under his pen:
- "Dreamers";
- "Mishkina porridge";
- "Cucumbers";
- "Living Hat".
Easy for children's perception and fascinating stories were published on the pages of the magazine "Murzilka".
Soon the author switched from small forms to large ones. He began to write children's stories, focusing on an older age. A big event in the world of children's literature was the release of Nosov's story "Vitya Maleev at school and at home". Subsequently, the work was filmed. The author received the Stalin Prize for this book.
The Adventures of Dunno
Soon the writer consolidated his success and authority in the writing environment. A series of books about the adventures of the cheerful and cheerful Dunno brought Nosov extraordinary popularity and love of readers. The man in a blue hat with wide brims and shaggy hair sticking out from under them is now well known not only in Russia, but also outside the country.
The series consists of three books:
- "The Adventures of Dunno and His Friends";
- "Dunno in the Sunny City";
- "Dunno on the Moon".
The first two books from the cycle about short toddlers are considered classics of children's literature. The third book about Dunno and his friends stands out from the series in terms of its content. In it, the author turns to the elements of dystopia, talking about the unsightly life in a society ruled by "business sharks." The book about Dunno's journey to the moon is especially relevant for modern Russia. Some critics see the author's foresight in this work.
Each of the short men invented by Nosov had a certain status in his world and was endowed with a profession. Guslya is a musician, Pilyulkin is a doctor, Vintik and Shpuntik are skilled mechanics. The smartest of the short ones, Znayka, is that he is a scientist at all. And only one Dunno did not decide on the choice of profession. The writer enables readers to trace how the main character is trying to find his destiny. All the adventures in the books about Dunno are built on funny and sometimes even ridiculous situations in which his curiosity and irrepressible energy turn on a funny little man.
The cycle of books about Dunno has an educational value - this has been noted more than once by many critics. Getting acquainted with the adventures of little people, the young reader can reflect on good and evil. Nosov's books explain the simplest moral and ethical norms, give the child the first idea of complex relationships in the world of people.
However, Nosov's work was not confined to the framework of children's literature. He also wrote works for more serious readers. He penned novels for adults, autobiographical works, journalism and satire. The works of Nikolai Nosov were filmed more than once - and this contributed to the author's popularity even more. Feature films and cartoons have been shot based on the writer's books.
Many famous authors immediately embarked on their main creative path. Nikolai Nosov clearly does not belong to this category of creators. His fate took shape in the most intricate way. He is considered a great director. However, Nikolai Nikolaevich received universal recognition precisely as a children's writer. He has repeatedly argued, meeting with the reading public, that writing books for children is the best job.
Love for literary creativity and for children allowed Nosov to become a favorite author for several generations. His books can be considered a triumph of goodness, justice and high morality.
