Jan Kovar is a Czech athlete, striker of the Škoda Plzen ice hockey club. Two-time winner of the Gagarin Cup, who won the award as part of Metallurg.
Biography
Jan Kovar was born on March 20, 1990 in the small Czech town of Pisek. He grew up as a physically strong, versatile boy. All hobbies faded into the background, as Jan was enrolled in the hockey section. On the ice, he immediately stood out from the general mass of his peers, was a technical and fast striker. Yang looked up to his older brother, who also played hockey. Jakub was already considered the leader of youth hockey in Pisek.
Work
Jan Kovar's professional career began in 2008. He made his debut in the Czech Extraliga club Pilsen. Previously, the athlete represented the farm club and his native ice hockey club "Pisek".
In the first season, Kovar played 61 matches, successfully gaining 16 points. A year later, Jan managed to become the most productive representative of the Czech championship. In 44 meetings, he scored 20 points.
In 2010 - 2011 Kovar Jr became the third top scorer of the team, earning 40 points in 54 matches. Being on loan at the Slovan Ustechti Lions club, Jan contributed to the team's victory in the prestigious tournament.
The 2011 - 2012 season has become a landmark. The athlete won the first national awards. These were the bronze medals of the Extraliga. Jan managed to become the best player in the Plzen squad, having received 59 points in 64 games.
The following year brought the team a great victory. The club became the champion of the country. Jan was named the best hockey player of the regular season and playoffs of the Extraliga. His result is 77 points in 72 matches.
Nizhnekamsk "Neftekhimik" became interested in the athlete, whose representatives were ready to go to any conditions, if only Kovar would go to them. Yang was skeptical about the proposal and signed a three-year contract with Metallurg Magnitogorsk. Already in the fall, the Czech made his debut in the Continental Hockey League, skillfully throwing the puck into the gates of Dynamo Moscow.
Playing for Metallurg, Jan Kovar became a two-time champion of Russia, the owner of the Gagarin Cup in 2014, 2016. A year later, the athlete celebrated another success - the silver in the Gagarin Cup.
In 2018, Yang moved abroad. He tried to prove himself in the NHL clubs "New York Islanders", "Boston Bruins", but did not get a chance to play for them. He played in the AHL, representing the famous Providence Bruins. At the end of the year, he signed a contract with Skoda from Pilsen. In the first match, he scored the decisive puck, giving the team a victory.
It was thanks to Jan that Plzen reached the Champions League semi-finals for the first time in the club's history.

Jan has always been very popular with girls. In addition to being in good physical shape, Kovar has a great sense of humor. He was not married yet, but for a long time he has been dating a girl named Irzhina.
